This study was done to pregnant adolescents, risk adolescents, and normal adolescents in order to find out relations of juvenile pregnancy and childhood parenting experiences. Female adolescents between the ages of 15-17 were selected for the study. There were 20 pregnant adolescents who live in juvenile protection facility and 20 risk adolescents comprising 15 commercial high school students who were found to have trouble adapting to school life by a counseling teacher and 5 academic high school students who were found to have behavioral problems by teachers and showed high scores of externalization (delinquency and problematic behaviors) in Korean-Youth Self Report, and 20 normal students who wished to be interviewed among academic high school students of middle or high ranking grades. Adult Attachment Interview(AAI) was used in the study to find out child caring experience in childhood. The interviews were carried out in person to person and all recorded. Transcripts of the interviews were analyzed. Also, types of personal relationships in each group were compared by using Relationship Style Questionnaire(RSQ). In order to select risk adolescents, Korean-Youth Self Report(K-YSR) was used. Results of the study are as follow. First, among negative life events, divorces of parents were an only significant factor between groups. Others did not show any significant differences. In terms of numbers negative life events, those who have experienced negative life events were the highest in the pregnant group, and the lowest in the normal group. Secondly, when it comes to the difference in the number of adjectives that describe relations between mother and daughter, those in the normal group presented the highest number of adjectives. The number decreases in the order of the risk adolescents group and the pregnant group. The number of adjectives about relations between father and daughter was the highest in the normal students. There were no significant differences between the pregnant group and the risk group. When the adjectives were classified into positive ones and negative ones, the normal group was the highest in presenting positive words. There were no differences between the risk group and the pregnant group. Thirdly, although differences in parent preferences were not statistically significant among the three groups, they all prefer mother to father. Main supporter, discriminations between brothers and sisters, traumatic experiences showed no statistically significant differences. Intimidation experiences were the only significant difference. 50% in the pregnant group, 30% in the delinquent group, 10% of the normal group have experienced intimation at home. Fourthly, when it comes to primary parenting experiences, the normal group was found to have positive experiences than the other groups in the scales of loving with parents, rejecting from mother, neglecting by mother. The scale of mother’s rejecting was significantly different between the normal group and the pregnant group. At last, when it comes to the types of attachment in relations, the normal group was the highest in the rate of secure attachment, making statistically significant difference. The rate of secure attachment of the pregnant group was the second highest and that of the delinquent group was the lowest. I hope that the results from this study can be used as fundamental material in solving problems regarding pregnant adolescents.
