미용업 종사자의 작업자세 평가와 감정노동, 직무 및 사회심리적 스트레스, 피로도가 근골격계질환에 미치는 영향 The Assessment of Beauty Artists’ Work Positions and the Influence of Their Emotional Labor, Job and Socio-psychological Stress, and Fatigue on Their Musculoskeletal Disorders원문보기

As beauty artists show physical fatigue due to their repetitive and unstable work position and are exposed to complex musculoskeletal disorders by personal/socio-psychological factors caused by mental stress, factors threatening their health at the job site are increasing. However, any study that proposes the direct/indirect influence of beauty artists' work positions, their musculoskeletal disorders-related subjective symptoms, emotional labor, job stress, socio-psychological stress and fatigue has not been attempted. Thus, this study first classified beauty artists into makeup artists, skin care professionals(face, arms, belly, back and legs), nail artists(manicure, artificial nails and pedicure) and hairdressers(drying, shampooing, dyeing, cutting and perm), and videotaped a total of 328 work positions subdivided by the main works in each of the fields. Then, the work positions judged to be most dangerous by ergonomic analysts were captured three times, and assessment using Rapid Entire Body Assessment(REBA), an ergonomic assessment tool was performed. As a result of the Assessment of their work positions, it appeared that Step 1 was 83% in the field of makeup, which is less risk than other fields of beauty, while Step 3 appeared in ‘back care’ in the field of skin care, which seems the risk of work positions is somewhat high. Also, it was found that the workers in the field of nail care were exposed to risk in their work position of giving ‘pedicure’ while the risk of the hairdressers works of ‘drying, cutting and perm’ rather than their shampooing and dyeing works was rated relatively high. Next, in order to examine the influence of their emotional labor, socio-psychological stress, job stress and fatigue on their musculoskeletal disorders, questionnaire was carried out for a total of 813 persons: 145 makeup artists; 180 skin care professionals; 216 nail care professionals and 272 hairdressers. As a result of the questionnaire, it turned out that the frequency of the occurrence of the beauty artists' symptoms of musculoskeletal disorders appeared to be a higher on their ‘shoulders’ in the field of skin care; their ‘waist’ in ‘nail care’; and their ‘feet’ in ‘hair care’ while in the field of makeup, the frequency of the occurrence of the symptoms was rated higher in the field of ‘total job stress’ and the sub-fields, ‘job insecurity’ and ‘organizational structure.’ In the field of skin care, ‘emotional moderation’ factor in emotional labor was high while in the fields of nail and hair care, the factor, ‘the expression of positive emotion’ appeared to be high. In addition, in the fields of makeup and skin care, ‘socio-psychological stress’ was rated high while in the field of makeup, the ‘Fatigue’ of the group with high fatigue was high and in the field of skin care, the fatigue of the group with medium fatigue was high while it was rated that fatigue had the most influence on their musculoskeletal disorders. The results of an examination of the influence of their emotional labor, job stress, socio-psychological stress and fatigue on their musculoskeletal disorders through a path model based on these results of the questionnaire are as follows: ‘Fatigue’ had the most influence on their musculoskeletal disorders, and in all fields of beauty art: makeup, skin care, nail care and hair care, it turned out that the higher their ‘emotional labor’ was, the higher the direct influence on their ‘fatigue’ got, and the lower their ‘emotional labor’ was, the higher the direct influence on their ‘socio-psychological stress’ got. As a result of an assessment of the influence of each field of beauty art on their musculoskeletal disorders, it appeared that in the field of makeup, ‘job stress’ had great indirect influence on their musculoskeletal disorders through their fatigue while their ‘socio-psychological stress’ greatly affected their musculoskeletal disorders indirectly through their ‘fatigue.’ It turned out that for their emotional labor in the field of skin care, fatigue and job stress greatly influenced their musculoskeletal disorders directly while their job stress in the field of hair care had much direct impact on their musculoskeletal disorders. This study empirically proposed objective and scientific data on quantitative analyses based on REBA assessment results, and has a significance in that it carried out a path-analysis on the influence of the beauty artists' emotional labor, job stress, socio-psychological stress, Fatigue and the risk of their work positions on their musculoskeletal disorders in order to try a comprehensive research and that it inquired into the direct/indirect causes of the disorders, which is expected to contribute to the development of beauty art.
