The development of digital music enabled teenagers, major music consumers, to privately copy music indiscreetly, and they created and owned various music contents not thinking such can be problems. Teenagers are exposed to danger of copyright violation, but they lack copyright awareness. If they get into copyright conflicts, they don't know how to deal with them. Thus, copyright awareness of teenagers should be studied, and proper and systematic education by copyright organizations or schools should be urgently studied. Existing studies for copyright awareness of teenagers were performed with small number of students or elementary students who clearly has low copyright awareness. Awareness and consuming behavior of music majoring teenagers or music copyright holders are barely studied. Therefore, this study will examine digital music consuming behavior and education of teenagers with current copyright protection policies and their limits. Also, dividing subjects to music major wishers and others to examine copyright protection awareness, education will and education forms. For the study, total 500 subjects composed of students wishing to major music, copyright holders who are currently majoring music and students wishing to major something other than music were surveyed. Digital contents use, illegal downloading and copyright awareness, copyright policies and related obligations and copyright education and its necessity were examined. As the result, copyright awareness of students wishing to major music and students wishing to major something other than music was not very high contradicting to their opinions that legal contents should be used. Also, opinions and consuming behaviors and copyright education wills of two groups were not very different. Ordinary teenagers' right moral awareness on copyright was desperately in need. Therefore, for teenagers' copyright protection awareness, they should be given real life copyright education by teachers as a regular class form in schools because media promotions on TV or the internet seemed to be not good enough. By dividing education subjects, students wishing to major music or cultural industry who will later have close relation with copyright policies should be given more professional and differentiated educations so that they can fulfill their obligations as future copyright holders and to have strong moral awareness of copyright. This study limited the subjects to be teenagers. Students wishing to major music and others were not clearly separated because students' major can be changed later or they haven't decided yet. However, later studies should further discuss comparison of copyright awareness of digital music users and providers, examination of changes in awareness of ordinary teenagers and adults, or overall copyright education for culture and art industries for teenagers.
