Depending on the objective and the method of public education, the curriculums have been revised. After the 7th public education revision in 2007 and 2008, it include a systematic and concrete framework. This produces outstanding individuals adaptable to current and future society.
These revisions require to change from general course + special course to the subject-class course on which student moving on each class. This change have been adapted in 2009, and the government pursue this subject-class course to be entirely extended all. Although the government attempting, the school hesitates planning and remodeling the class because of absence of rare operating pre-case.
This research have purpose to produce the reference for remodeling and planning the class optimized to the subject-class course through domestic and abroad floor plan and area analysis of the subject-class course school.
First chapter refers the background, purpose and scopes of this research and present rough understanding through research flow chart.
Next chapter, the definition and change of public education, and the content of 2009 education revision are searched. Also the pros and cons of the subject-class course are analyzed.
Chapter 3, this suggest the research survey plan and the current example of the subject-class course in Korea, Japan, and US are shown. Also this chapter clarify spatial interpretation and somparison of Methods.
Chapter 4, the components consisting of the variation type are suggested and sorted by criteria. Next, each sorted each components in Korea, Japan and US are compared.
Chapter 5, through the floor plan analysis method, this research occupying area per person on each class room sample for relative comparing supplemental areas for learning, spatial moving support areas, student support areas.
The conclusions are bellow.
The arrangements of Korea school remodeled vary. Mainly one side corridor typeand variation type+meeting room, subject block and center homebase are found. In Korea, new schools mainly have variation type+meeting room+media space, subject block and center homebase under the H-shape and ㄷ-shape arrangement and middle corridor type, one side corridor type structure. The classroom arrangement in Japan also are various. They mainly have one side corridor type structure, the some school have middle corridor type structure. Subject block consists of variation type, meeting room and media space. 4 schools are under distributed homebase and 2 schools are under center homebase. In cases of 4 schools in US, there are H-shape and ㅡ-shape under middle corridor type structure. subject block consists of variation type, meeting room and media space, with outside locker.
Second conclusion, the rooms of the subject-class course school for instructor is sorted according to the subject-class course demand, in for classification; Space areas, supplemental areas for learning, Spatial moving support areas, Student support areas, Spatial Moving areas.
Space areas: variation type
Supplemental areas for learning: meeting room, office, media space, etc,
Spatial moving support areas : homebase, rounge, locker, etc,
Student support areas : student union office, restroom, water foundation, etc
Spatial Moving areas : corridor, stairs, elevator, etc
Third, according to comparing the component of these schools, the basic overall constitutions are similar. but there are difference in name of the room and use of the space. In Space areas, depending on the lectured subject, it varies. In supplemental areas for learning, this space is used for the instructor rather than students in Korea, but instructor and student share the space in Japan and US. In case of spatial moving support areas, homebase in Japan is distinguished by the use of space. this space In US is composed of locker differently from Korea and Japan. Comparing student support areas, The space in Japan seems relatively monotoneous. There are varient component in US such as snack bar or cafeteria. Spatial moving areas areas in Korea, Japan, US has common thing. And more the area in US is used for student's society activity.
Fourth, the comparison of occupying area of Contemporary results that remodeled spaces in Korea and the space in Japan mainly have Space areas, rarely have Student support areas. In US there are most Spatial Moving areas and hardly spatial moving support areas. Ratio of Space areas in comparision three nation is the highest in US and lowest in Japan. Korea case has relatively more Space areas than Japan’s, this is because rearrangement of plane structure. Supplemental areas for learning is most located in US, also there are many supplemental areas for learning in Japan. The case of Korea has most low ratio of supplemental areas for learning, The reason is difficult rearrangement due to limitation of spatial Composition. Spatial Moving areas is relatively located in newly remodeled space in Japan and US. This is because the locker is occupied at corridor in US. Student support areas is located more in US, and less in Japan. New school has more the space. Spatial Moving areas is located highly in Korea. This is because of wide corridor and one side corridor type plane structure. In US, it has lowly located for the reason why the part of plane structure of middle corridor type is used for supplemental areas for learning.
Fifth, occupying area per student is the highest in Japan and the lowest in Korea remodeled case. Spatial Moving areas is the largest occupying area and Student support areas is the lowest occupying area. The summary of comparison with cases in Korea, Japan and US is bellow. Occupying area per student of Spatial Moving areas is the largest in Japan, next US, newly constructed, and last remodeled space. Variation type in Japan is various. Also Variation type per student in Japan is spacious. In Korea case, areas of Variation type is more roomy which is the result of the plan for the subject-class course. Also occupying area of supplemental areas for learning is large in Japan. This is because move areas in Japan is used for supplemental areas for learning, The case in US is simillar to Japan case. In Korea case, There low occupying area of supplemental areas for learning, this is because of limited plane structure and limitation of budget. Spatial Moving areas is the largest in Japan case , larger in Korea and lowest in US case. This is because of guidance behavior in Korea and Japan. In US case the locker is located in this areas which is different from homebase of Japan and Korea. In Japan case, the number of component of this areas is low, but the each area of the component is larger than other nation's case. The area In Korea case remodeled is larger than newly constructed. This is because the consideration of plan for convenient space for student. Spatial Moving areas is smallest in remodeled room. the areas in newly constructed space is larger than the remodeled space. The areas is most larger in Japan, this is because of the plan that when operating the subject-class course, the crowd is avoided. In US case, student support areas is shared with supplemental areas for learning in plane structure of middle corridor type . This result in the small areas occupation area.
This research is for application in plan for school. It includes the comparison with floor plan of Korean remodeled, newly constructed, the classroom in Japan, the classroom in US. Domestic school is remodeled for the subject-class course. The classroom is prepared which is insufficient comparing US and Japan case. This research can be applicate for planning composition of space factors and occupying area of each student. However this paper is only limited in floor plan analysis. The more case analysis for planning the subject-class course-classroom is necessary.
