Fashion changes depending on comtemporary situations such as the era's politics, economy and culture and the way of life. Changes in this fashion appear in the various aspects but it's women's appearance to feel the fastest changes in fashion. Due to the nature of women to pursue beauty all the time, women through all ages do the most sensitive and fastest response. The women in the past who were lack of the way of adorning themselves compared to those of the modern would be absorbed in decorating their hairstyles. Thus, one of the indicators of the past fashion is changes in the hairstyle. This study was to investigate the hairstyle in the royal women that could be an indicator of the ear of fashion and to do comparative analysis by dividing the hairstyle in the royal women of the Joseon Dynasty shown in multi-media into the early · middle · late period by using multi-media which was easy to see visually and be accessible. Though the criteria for classification in the Joseon Dynasty(1392-1897) is different according to historians, generally it's divided into the early · middle · late period. In this paper, it was to analyze changes and features of the hairstyle of the women in royal court based on "Early Joseon-Great Kong Sejong", "Middle Joseon- Petticoat government", "Late Joseon- Yi San" by limiting historical dramas aired since the 1990s of TV historical dramas. As a theoretical study, Joseon Dynasty-related books and existing previous papers, journals, dramas, films, internet homepage, etc were utilized. The results of this study are as follows: First, as a result of observing the hairstyle in the Joseon Dynasty, Joseon royal court women's hairstyles were Daesumeori, Eoyeomeori, Tteogujimeori, Cheopji, Jojimmeori, Saeangmeori, Eonjeunmeori, Jjokmeori, etc. The results of analyzing the hairstyle by dividing this into the early · middle · late period, in the early period, the hairstyle of Koryo Dynasty and that of Joseon Dynasty were mixed due to the effect of Koryo women's hairstyle, in the middle period, various hairstyles to direct hairs gorgeous appeared as the size of Gache was growing. In the late period, as the size of Gache was bigger, extravagance and financial waste became serious due to Gache, the hairstyle to limit Gache changed to simple and graceful forms Second, in the dramas on the basis of the early · middle · late of the Joseon Dynasty, gradually the hairstyle in different forms appeared depending on the age. In "Great King Sejong" in the early period, Daesumeori, Eoyeomeori and Tteogujimeori didn't appear, the types the impact of the Koryo Dynasty that was Saeangmeori, Eonjeunmeori and Bangs laid and back hair lower had remained, appeared. Especially, Eonjeunmeori of the queen and crown princess appeared in mixed forms due to the effect of Koryo women's hairstyle. In "Petticoat government" in the middle period, the form of the head was greater with the use of Gache, Daesumeori, Eoyeomeori and Tteogujimeori appeared first. Eonjeunmeori was generalized and appeared in the head shape of commoners, in palace Eoyeomeori using Eoyeom Jokduri was common. In addition, Jojimmeori, Saeangmeori and Jjokmeori appeared, Teuremeori with the increase of the form did in Gisaengs. In Yi San in the late period, though Daesumeori and Tteogujimeori appeared for formal dress, Eoyeomeori and Eonjeunmeori didn't appear under the influence of Gache ban, instead Cheopjimeori appeared first and it was the common hairstyle in court. Moreover, Saeangmeori and Jjokmeori appeared, huge Teuremeori remained in Gisaengs. Third, as a result of doing comparative analysis of the hairstyle in each drama with historical research materials, although the hairstyle expressed in each age drama appeared well in the similar to that of historical research materials, Daesumeori or Saeangmeori was represented differently from actual historical data. Daesumeori was the hairstyle occurred from King Injo era and Chiljeokgwan in the Ming Dynasty had been used previously. In 'Petticoat government' based on King Jungjong ere -King Myeongjong era, regardless of using Chiljeokgwan rather than Daesumeori, Daesumeori appeared. It can be considered to create confusion for viewers that the historical research is not reproduced well in the dramas to shed new light on the history. It's not easy to obtain the data to show Joseon women's hairstyle by age, there is a limit to compare drama's hairstyle by age but this study is to provide basic data for historical understanding of Joseon women's hairstyle, by expecting historical understanding of old ancestor's favorite haristyle in the early · middle · late of the Joseon Dynasty and being used as a comparative date for producing historical dramas.
