A Study on the Investment Performance of Korean Firms in Russia: the Case of Hyundai Motors The main purpose of this thesis is to analyse the factors which influence to decide on Korean firms investing in the Russian market and the processes of entering the foreign market, in particular performance of Korean firms in Russia. Following the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, the Russian SFSR reconstituted itself as the Russian Federation and is proclaimed as a democratic and capitalistic country. The result of such economic politics we can see, from the year 2000 to 2013 foreign investments have rapidly increased in the gross. Furthermore the economic relationship between two countries, Russian Federation and Republic of Korea have been growing in large scale. They began from 200 million US dollars per year in 1992 and in 2013 the annual trade volume between the two countries consist of almost 23 billion US dollars. However, still the Russian market has not been the target market for Korean Firms. According to statistic materials, Korean Firms concern more about Asian countries and prefer more to do investments in China, Vietnam, etc. Thereby, we got interesting facts about what problems could threat Korean firms when they enter the Russian market. In this connection we chose the case of Hyundai Motors entering to Russia, since many experts think this investment case is successful to enter the Russian market. Through this case we analyse the factors of enter decision, enter modes and process of investing. Through this analyse we understood there are two factors, which every firm should carefully pay attention to. It is the internal and external factors of foreign market, where the firm aims to invest to; firms also need to do SWOT analyse, STP analyse etc. Then, the firm can draw up the whole picture of investment project profitability. Furthermore this analyses process takes sufficient time through the phased enter: exporting, contracting and eventually investment steps. However it is recommend to pass these phases step by step; otherwise success of the firm might be doubtful.
