The goal of this research is to help understanding the new mathematics curriculum that would be on effect from March 1, 2018, by comparing 2009 curriculum with 2015 curriculum for middle and high schools.
This research focuses on comparing main contents of each domain and achievement standards of both curriculums.
As a result of the research, 2015 curriculum maintains its former goal, which aims to develop curriculum for creativeness of future students in order to fit for information-oriented society. As 2014 curriculum revision on restructuring of combining liberal arts and natural sciences lays down six areas, problem solving, inferencing, communication, creative and integrative thinking, information processing and tools using, and mathematical attitude and practice, as its focus, 2015 curriculum also emphasizes it. At the same time, it establishes a new subject for students to find paths so as to fulfill personalized education and seeking supremacy after completing common math courses. Moreover, 2015 curriculum tries to ease the learning burden by suggesting teaching and learning methods focusing on activities and researches to promote interests in math, and by not having assessed by the contents out of curriculum.
Though this research has its limitations since the 2015 curriculum is not yet on effect, it would be helpful to understand it which would be adopted in 2018.
