This research was implemented to examine the effects of bathing using Calcium Bentonite on Athletes' fatigue recovery. As study recipients, 24 athletes were recruited from athletes of K university, who did not have injuries and had agreed spontaneously after listening to the purpose and procedures of the experiment. The recipients were divided randomly into Experimental Group 1 for bathing using Calcium Bentonite (n=8), Experimental Group 2 for bathing with pure water (n=8), and Control Group (n=8) without any treatment. The research recipients had their blood taken in the laboratory in a stable condition 30 minutes before the start of the experiment, and Wingate test using bicycle ergometer was implemented. They warmed up for 10 seconds each in 90w load, maintaing 80rpm, and were applied comparative load of 0.07kp per weight for 30 seconds after the warm-up, with a starting chant. By repeating taking a rest of 1 minute and restarting, peak power, mean power and fatigue index for 1 time were calculated, and lactic acid, or fatigability became raised to its maximum. Lactic acid in blood was measured right after the test. Comparative groups had their lactic acid in blood measured for 5 times, in an interval of 3 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes and 30 minutes with normal bathing and Calcium Bentonite mixture bathing. Groups going in the bathtub went into the bathtub within 10 seconds after the all-out lactic acid measure, and measured the time right away. Lactic acid in blood were measured by using lactic acid analyser, and collecting blood with heparin tube in a finger tip method. A fixed quantity of blood with pipette pet was injected in the lactic acid analyser and was analysed. The temperature of water maintained 39℃ (Koska et al, 2003), and the mixture amount of Calcium Bentonite was set as 2 normal paper cups (about 160g) in a small bathtub for two adults (180cm), referring to Perry(2006)'s research. As a result of this research, lactic acid concentration in blood of Control Group decreased from 10.85±0.87(p<.000) for all-out to an average of 4.38±0.66(p<.000) after 30 minutes. Lactic acid concentration in blood of Experimental Group 1 decreased from 10.28±0.90(p<.000) for all-out to an average of 3.86±0.81(p<.000) after 30 minutes. Lactic acid concentration in blood of Experimental Group 2 decreased from 10.13±0.99(p<.000) for all-out to an average of 4.24±0.76(p<.000) after 30 minutes. Like this, lactic acid concentration of Experimental Group 2 decreased to 4.24±0.76(p<.000), but Experimental Group 1 decreased the most, to 3.86±0.81(p<.000). According to the result, bathing using Calcium Bentonite after the maximum anaerobic exercise made a statistically specific difference in lactic acid concentration(p<0.001), but comparing to other groups, the difference was not statistically meaningful. However, bathing using Calcium Bentonite could decrease the lactic acid concentration in blood to specific value more than bathing with pure water and Control Group, and an active treatment when recovering after exercise is thought to have a big effect for fatigue recovery.
