The Relationship between Attachment Trauma and the Victimization of Dating Violence : The Mediating Effects of Experiential Avoidance and the Moderating Effects of Social Support원문보기

The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effects of experiential avoidance and the moderating effects of social support on the relationship between attachment trauma and the victimization dating violence. For this purpose, 363 adult unmarried men and women completed measures of Childhood Trauma Questionnaire-Short Form(CTQ-SF), The Revised Conflict Tactics Scales(CTS-2), Acceptance & Action Questionnaire-II(AAQ-II), and Social Support Scale. Structural equation modeling(SEM) was used for testing of the mediating effects and the moderating effect. The results of this study are summarized as follows. First, Gender difference was significant in two variables. Women reported higher emotional abuse and experiential avoidance than men. Second, there was a significant positive correlation among attachment trauma, the victimization of dating violence and experiential avoidance. Also, social support showed significant negative correlations with attachment trauma and the victimization of dating violence. Third, attachment trauma showed direct effect on the victimization of dating violence, but the mediating effects of experiential avoidance was not significant between attachment trauma and the victimization of dating violence. Fourth, social support was found to be a significant moderator between attachment trauma and the victimization of dating violence. This study suggests that attachment trauma can be a risk factor to increase the victimization of dating violence, and high level of social support can be a buffer to lower the victimization of dating violence. Based on the above results, the implications and limitations of this study were discussed along with suggestions for further research.
