The study is an experimental research focused on figuring out effects of project learning-oriented cooperative activity on elementary school students’ attitude toward disability. Specific research assignments are to investigate effects of project learning-oriented cooperative activity on attitude of non-disabled students toward integration, perception of ability of the disabled, behavioral intention, and classmates’ perceptional expectation. To this end, twenty-two third graders without a disability in the integrated class were selected among students enrolled in Elementary School G in Gumi-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do. The experimental period was from March 21, 2017 to April 17, 2017, and each test lasted for 40 minutes. Experiments were conducted three times a week and a total of 13 tests was conducted for 4 weeks. As for a testing tool, Disability Acceptance Attitude Test developed by Weon-seok Oh(2008) and reconstructed by Seong-su Ha(2009) was used. Data was processed through the use of SPSS/PC+ ver. 24.0 for Windows in order to figure out differences in average before and after the fact, and a paired t-test was conducted in a 95% confidence interval to verify statistical significance. The conclusions from the results and discussion of this study are as follows. First, project learning-oriented cooperative activity is effective in improving elementary school students’ attitudes toward integrated education. By solving problems through cooperative activities, students were able to reduce negative stereotypes and consider disabled student. And students’ attitudes toward integration are improved by accepting student with disabilities as friends through dialogues. Second, project learning-oriented cooperative activity is effective in improving elementary school students’ perception on disabled people’s ability. By completing a given task during various activities in groups, students can realize abilities of students with disabilities. Though positive ideas about handicapped students’ potential, it led to improvement of perception on handicapped people’s ability. Third, project learning-oriented cooperative activity is effective in improving elementary school students’ behavioral intention. During the program, it seems that students worked together with disabled student and could understand disabled students’ behaviors and thoughts through activities with peers. And students’ behavioral intention have improved because students strengthened their intention to voluntarily interact with disabled student. Fourth, project learning-oriented cooperative activity is effective in improving classmates’ perceptional expectations on the handicapped. Through cooperative activities to solve problems, the understanding of students with disabilities showed positive changes in their perception of students with disabilities. And it appeared to increase classmates’ perceptional expectations through reflection of self-recognition.
