The leadership of the director plays a significant role in the operation of the early childhood education institution and in the director-teacher relationship. In this regard, it is necessary to investigate how the leadership of the early childhood education institution’s director influences the operation of the institutions and the quality assurance of the early childhood education. Also, it is necessary to study which variables combined with the director’s leadership best predicts the interaction between the teacher and the child. Therefore, this study shows how the effect of the director’s leadership type on the teacher-child interaction and the impact of the director's leadership type on the teacher-child interaction change when the early childhood teacher's job satisfaction and the director-teacher relationship are combined. To accomplish this research goal, director’s leadership type test, teacher-child interaction test, early childhood teacher job satisfaction test, and director-teacher relationship test were conducted among 447 early childhood education teachers. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis using dummy variables. The primary results of this study are as follows: First, the impact of director`s leadership type on teacher-child interaction was different. Teacher-child interaction total score and subordinate factors all showed that the explanatory power of persuasive leadership type and delegating leadership type were found to be significantly higher than that of directive leadership type. Second, the impact of the leadership type on the teacher-child interaction was found to change when the teacher's job satisfaction and the director-teacher relationship were combined. Specifically, the results of putting only the director’s leadership type showed a higher degree of explanatory power for persuasive leadership and delegating leadership than directive leadership. However, when combined with the job satisfaction and the director-teacher relationship, explanatory power of delegating leadership was no longer viable, and only the persuasive leadership showed significant explanatory power. The study result confirmed that persuasive leadership was the required leadership type at on-sites of early childhood education in Korea rather than task oriented or achievement oriented leadership. Persuasive leader allowed the director and the early childhood teacher to play their roles, reflected opinions of teachers in the decision-making process, and provided support so that teacher could fulfill their roles. Also, when the director's leadership was combined with the job satisfaction of the early childhood teacher, and smooth relationship existed between the decision-making director and the task-performing teacher, teacher-child interaction could be formed more meaningfully. In addition, when the director's leadership was combined with the job satisfaction of the early childhood teacher, and with the smooth relationship between the decision-making director and the task-performing teacher, teacher-child interaction could be formed more meaningfully.
