Humanity college students have suffered from careers and employments such as the lowest employment rates of each department and the lowest concurrence with major department and work business information. This study is a qualitative research to identify career preparation behavior of the humanity college students who are in this situation in depth and synthetically. This study set research problems that first how the humanity college students conduct career exploration, second how the students recognize their major in career preparation, and third how the students experience changes during career preparation period. For those, this study selected 24 research subjects, in a humanity college, who are senior students preparing career preparation activities actively and are within one year after graduation. This study conducted focus group interviews, and its results are as follows. First, this study categorized the career exploration experiences into invisible path, seeking other fields, program participation in and out of school, and influence of social network. Through a confusion period on their career, the research subjects tried other fields, which are not in their major, and during this stage they receive programs in and out of school and influence of social network. Second, the research subjects recognized their departments and majors as ‘suffering and acceptance’ and specifically there were negative recognition of surrounding people, unfavorable major of employment, and regret and affection to their major. As they had had negative experiences and recognitions on the humanity departments, the students repented of choosing their majors, but most of the subjects have meaning and affection on their majors. Third, the subjects made practical efforts such as teaching themselves and group study during some process to prepare tools and qualifications. Although the humanity college students experienced difficulty and despair in the processes, they also experienced changes such as adaptability to reality and acquisition of positive belief. Based on the research results, this study deducted conclusions as follows. First, even though the humanity college students have sought their career path by using various methods and passages, it is difficult for them to utilize their majors in the humanity. Although, the students explored fields in and out of their majors, participated in programs related to career and employment, utilized development support network, and experienced self-exploration, it is hard for them to find the passage related to the humanity department. Second, the humanity college students experienced disadvantages because of their majors, but they accepted value of their majors. Though they suffered from difficulty in career preparation behavior with hearing negative stories from surrounding people, the humanity college students had affection to their majors. It means that they appreciated their majors and were founding alternatives in reality by seeking meaning. Third, the research subjects had learning and growth in processes of the career preparation behaviors for their career goals. They were discouraged and had anxiety in the career preparation behavior, but they experienced realistic senses and promoting actions with trying to get to their career goals. This study has a significance to seriously discuss actual processes of career preparation behaviors of the humanity college students, who could not become a subject of interest from existed studies and be alienated from career and employment. Finally, this study included practical suggestions in individual, educational, and social aspects that this research revealed.
