Recently, in the modern society, as the interest in beauty has increased with high economic growth and enhancement of cultural level, the interest in the beauty industry area has been expanded, and its growth is being enhanced day by day. In particular, although it has been short since nail industry was introduced in Korea, the beauty area associated with nail industry has been established as a fashion item and moreover the number of nailists are constantly increasing due to the development of nail techniques and increase in consumer demand. Under these circumstances, work-related stress and emotional labor of employees in nail industry are on an increasing trend, and this is one of the issues to be addressed in the beauty industry area. Therefore, this study is aimed at analyzing the impact of work-related stress and emotional labor of nail industry employees on job change, and thereby providing the basic data needed for improvement in the vision and job satisfaction of this industry, and coping plans for work-related stress, as well as the fundamental data for further studies in this area. For this purpose, a survey was conducted with 250 nail industry employees working in the Daejeon and Chungcheong regions between June 25th and August 15th, 2017, and the results are as follows. First, in the demographic characteristics, women, those in their 20 - 30s, those who had not married and those with a 2 year college degree constituted the majority of the research subjects. Second, it was shown that the amount of work-related stress depending on the nature of working environment was the highest with general nail technicians, and the lowest with the director or manager of the shop. According to the number of employees, the stress was the highest with two employees, and the lowest with a single employee. In addition, more than 6 working days per week lead to higher stress than 5 or less working days per week. Third, the cause of work-related stress was shown to be working environment, economy, superior/colleague and customer in the decreasing order. There was no significant difference in both general factors and sub-factors of work-related stress according to the gender and education level. However, a statistically significant difference was found according to age, and higher work-related stress was observed with the younger age. There was a statistically significant difference according to the marriage status, and the unmarried employees felt more stress than the married employees. Fourth, while there was no significant difference in emotional labor and the intention of job change according to the gender and the education level, a significant difference was observed according to age, and the married employees had more emotional labor and the higher intention of job change. For monthly income, the employees with less than 1.5 million won had the highest intention of job change, and those with 2 million won or higher income had the lowest. According to the working environment, a significant difference was observed in the position, service time, working hours, nail shop types, the number of employees in the shop and working days per week. Longer working hours appeared to lead to higher stress. The nail shop types did not show any statistically significant difference. In addition, the employees who worked for 6 days or longer per week had the higher intention of job change, and the emotional labor and the intention of job change were the lowest in the shop where a single employee worked, and the highest in the shop where two employees worked. Therefore, work-related stress and emotional labor of nail industry employees were shown to have a statistically significant relationship with the intention of job change, which thus indicated that the general work-related stress and emotional labor felt by nail industry employees had a significant impact on the job change. In conclusion, in order for nail industry that is advancing everyday to be established firmly as a part of beauty industry, it is necessary to reduce the rate of the job change through the cause analysis of work-related stress and emotional labor of nail industry employees. and to conduct constant research for enhancing the job satisfaction.
