The Effect of Forest Play Activities on Character Development and Peer Competency of Young Children in Kindergarten원문보기
(The Scale for Evaluation of Preschool Children's Peer Competence)를 사용하였다.

This research is conduced to 40 four-year-old in iksan that consist 20-control and 20-experiment group children. Test are condected both before and after the activities. The measuring tool for character development was based on Bae(2007)’s children character rating scale fr the use of teacher, a modification of Kwon(2004) that was based on the character test of Conners(1970). The scale consists of 50 questions in 5 sub categories: basic life-style, self-establishment, community spirit, physical development and sociality. The measuring tool for peer competency was the scale for evaluation of preschool children’s peer competency which was developed by Park and Lee(2001). The scale consists of 15 questions in 3 sub categories: sociability, prosociality, and scrupulosity. The experimental treatments of this study were forest play activities 12 times for 12 weeks. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 20.0 program. In order to find out the impact of forest play activity on children’s character and peer competency, paired t-test about the change of the children’s character and peer competence level before and after the play is carried out for those children and experimental group. The t-test and ANCOVA is conducted to figure out if there is any difference between before and after score controlling before character and peer competency. The research result for forest play activity’s effect on children’s character and peer competency is as follows. First, forest activities had positive influence upon young children’s character. Regarding sub factors of character: asic life-style, self-establishment, community spirit, physical development and sociality. Second, forest activities had positive influence upon peer competency, one of sub peer competency: scrupulosity. Resulting the study, forest play activity has positive effects on young children’s character and peer competency.
