A Study on Smart Phone Usage Type, Dinge Eating Behavior, and Food Intake Frequency Depending on Smart Phone Dependency of Female High School Students in Seoul원문보기

As focusing on female high school students, this study verified smart phone dependency, smart phone usage type, diet, binge eating behavior, and food intake frequency, so that it was to identify problems of diet and eating behavior related to smart phone usage of female high school students, and it suggested basic data of nutrition education for adolescents, who depend heavily on a smart phone. This study selected 223 female high school students, who are second grade in Seoul as research subjects. It researched and analyzed general features, smart phone usage, smart phone dependency, smart phone usage type, diet, binge eating behavior, and food intake frequency. 69.5% of the research subjects had used smart phone ‘over 5 years’ and it was the largest part. Average usage time of smart phone per a day appeared as 3 hours and 57 minutes in weekdays, and average usage time of smart phone per a day showed up 6 hours and 3 minutes in weekend. As a result of researching smart phone dependency, this study found a group of high-risk users occupied 1.4%, potential risk users occupied 29.6%, and a general user group took possession of 69.1%, so that a high dependency risk group of smart phone usage occupied 31%. In effects of using smart phone, the high-risk dependency group showed significantly higher in sleep disorder experience (p<0.001) and physical activity reduction (p <0.001) than the general user group. In smart phone usage for leisure, the high-risk dependency group showed significantly higher (p<0.001) than the general user group, but there was no significant difference between information research and usage and communication. In diet, the high-risk dependency more preferred irritating foods such as spicy food, salty food, and sweet food than the general user group (p<0.05), had binge eating behavior at once (p<0.05), and had frequently replaced a meal with convenience store food or snack (p<0.01). In binge eating behavior, the high-risk dependency group much more showed significantly moderate binge (31.9%) and severe binge (5.8%) (P<0.05) than the general user group answered (18.2%, 1.9%), and it showed significantly higher points of binge eating behavior (p<0.001). In food intake frequency, the high-risk dependency group showed more frequent eating behavior of rice (p<0.005), hams (p<0.05), and caffeine drink p<0.05) than the general user group. As a result of analyzing correlation between smart phone usage type and smart phone dependency, this study found that total score of leisure and communication showed positively significance with total score of the dependency (p<0.05), so that the smart phone dependency was getting increased as smart phone usage for leisure and communication was getting increased. As a result of analyzing correlation among smart phone dependency, smart phone usage time, diet, and binge eating behavior, every relation showed positive significance in weekdays and weekend (p<0.05), and diet showed negative significance (p<0.01), and also dinge eating behavior showed positive significance (p<0.01). In relation between smart phone dependency and food intake frequency, it showed positive significance with rice and caffeine drinks (p<0.05). Based on the research results, as smart phone dependency increased, score of diet becomes lower and dinge eating behavior is getting higher, so that this study suggests it should be needed to have continuous and systematic nutrition education for female high school students in order to form desired diet and prevent dinge eating behavior.
