This study examined the relationship between workplaceincivility, compassion, and positive psychological capital inorganizations, and examined the effects of these on organizationalsilence. In addition, we tried to verify whether the communicationcompetence of organizational members has a moderating effectbetween their positive psychological capital and organizationalsilence that occurs in the organization. For this purpose, 312questionnaires were surveyed. The results of this study are asfollows. First, the workplace incivility experienced in the organizationnegatively affects positive psychological capital such as self - efficacy, hope, and resilience except for the optimism that themembers have. On the other hand, compassion from other people experienced in the organization has been proved to strengtheneach factor by positively affecting the positive psychologicalcapital of the members. In addition, positive psychological capitalhas been shown to lower or mitigate the acquiescent silence thatcan occur in the organization, and positive psychological capitalsuch as self-efficacy, hope, and resilience except optimism canalso lower or mitigate the defensive silence that occurs in theorganization. Lastly, the higher the communication competence ofthe members of the organization, the stronger the positivepsychological capital they possessed, the lower the organizationalsilence as a whole. This study suggests that compassion and workplace incivility arethe first to demonstrate the effects of positive psychologicalcapital on organizational silence and the moderating effects ofcommunication competence. In addition, this study suggests thatorganizational members who experienced compassion within theorganization not only contribute to the formation of positiveculture of psychological capital, but also show practicalimplications.
