A study on the Teaching Method of sight-singing and ear-training Class Using Robert M. Gagne Teaching Theory : Focused on the first grade of middle school원문보기

Sight-seeing and ear-learning is the most crucial and fundamental field in music. Enhancing the ability to read and write a music score as same as reading and writing a book must be preceded in the education of music. Sight-seeing is about learning and experiencing the essential elements of music, such as rhythm, melody, and harmony, with our physical senses. Ear-learning is not just about distinguishing music notes and transferring it on a music score but also brings the development on the focus and understanding of music, the improvement of musical sense, the comprehension of associative relation between notes, etc., as the main results of studying it. However, sight-seeing and ear-learning classes are less available in the current structure of the education system, due to the decrease in the number of courses in schools and the lack of necessary learning contents in textbooks. The aim of this thesis paper is to become aware of the need of sight-seeing and ear-learning and suggest an educational lesson plan stage by stage, which is based on the Robert M. Gagne’s ‘Instructional Theory of Learning.’ The educational lesson plan is organized and composed into overall eight classes, and they are arranged stage by stage for effective sight-seeing and ear-learning. These classes are constructed as a systematic lesson from the smallest unit of rhythm and melody In the tests and examinations of the first and last classes, the same scoring standards are applied on the measurement of ‘Learning Competency’ and the evaluation of ‘Achievement behavior,’ based on the Theory of Robert M. Gagne. These tests and examinations will demonstrate the visible improvement of the ability of sight-seeing and ear-learning within the students, who participated in the classes. In addition, it focuses on increasing the effectiveness and the level of interest in the unfamiliar subject of sight-seeing and ear-learning by choosing simple and familiar music pieces in textbooks that the students are aware of, in order to teach the subject effectively and practically.
