The pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar are all necessary when learning a second foreign language, and the vocabulary is the most basic one. Chinese characters take a large part especially in Japanese, so the study of Japanese Kanjiisextremely important for students who are learning Japanese. Students within the cultural area of Chinese characters have a sense of affability of Chinese characters in Japanese, so they are easier to understand Japanese Kanji than students from outside of the cultural area. Although Japanese Kanji and Chinese characters share major similarity, their differences are still not negligible. As a result, sometimes the “affability” can lead to misuse. In reality, what problems do Chinese Japanese learners face when using Japanese Kanji? What factors will affect the acquisition process? We must conduct a detailed and in-depth analysis of the actual situation of learners using Japanese Kanji in order to find out the answers. The purpose of this paper is to find out and tries to solve the problems that emerge in the process of acquisition of Japanese Kanji from the perspective of Chinese Japanese learners. This paper takes the misuse research theory from the theory of second language acquisition as the theoretical guidance, choose the Shanghai Jiaotong University learner corpus and select 175 undergraduates (three, five, seven) of Japanese major in Chinese universities as the respondents. 175 learners were divided into three levels according to the Japanese language level: elementary, intermediate and advanced. In order to investigate the misuse of learning and using of Japanese Kanji at each stage, 837 cases are selected from the 630 essays of the respondents. The following conclusions are drawn: Chinese Japanese learners have a low misuse rate when using Japanese Kanji, and the misuse rate decreases with the increase of learning time. The misuse of Chinese words is mainly divided into four types by three factors: grammar, the meaning of Japanese Kanji and the expression of Japanese Kanji, namely, "grammar problems", "meaning of Japanese Kanji", "Chinese characters that do not exist in Japanese” and “marking problems”, and the misuse is deeply analyzed respectively in each type. From the research results, the native language interference is one of the main reasons for the misuse of Japanese Kanji by Chinese Japanese learners. Finally, based on the analysis of the causes of misuse, the paper tries to put forward some suggestions on learning strategies and teaching methods for Japanese Kanji education.
