A Comparative Study on the Acting of Opera La Bohème and Movie Musical Rent : With a focus on Sherade's acting원문보기

This study mainly compared and analyzed charade to compare acting between the opera [La Bohème] and the musical [Rent]. Opera and musical have something in common as they both are a composite art, but the biggest difference is music. Unlike opera, which is based on classical music, musical is free to use and modify various genres of music such as ballad, rock, jazz, pop, and crossover music that are easily accessible to the public. The opera [La Bohème] and the musical [Rent], which are the subjects of this analysis, are both recognized works for their popularity and workability. The musical [Rent], a creative work of the opera [La Bohème], was newly reborn with the addition of rock music and various social problems in modern times. There are many studies that suggest the commonalities and differences of the works through the opera [La Bohème] and the musical [Rent], but there have been no studies comparing and analyzing the two media with the acting technique of charade. Although the acting methodology of musical acting has been studied relatively much, there is a lack of related studies on opera acting. Even though only music is used differently as the same stage art, the importance of acting is different. Charade, which has a long history in visual arts, is a general term for indirect meaning expression other than dialogue. Among many acting methodologies, the reason for choosing charade acting is that charade is so much more impressive than description with dialogue that it is more effective for the audience. The charade acting of characters serves as a resource for judging the temporal background, the age, educational background, career, and personality of the characters, as well as the whole story of a play. And it can tell the story of a play most directly and intimately to the audience through actors' facial expressions and bodies, limb gestures, and props. Therefore, this study aims to classify charade into four types: movement expressions, prop expressions, place expressions, and sound expressions. To ensure accuracy, this study referred to a DVD with the live recording of the actual stage performance. However, it was difficult to observe the entire stage because the stage was partially filmed not recorded entirely, and it was also difficult to observe the actors' facial expressions and bodies. This study aims to show that charade acting in the opera [La Bohème] and the musical [Rent] is as important in theatrical art as in visual art. In addition, it is hoped that continuous research will be helpful to relevant applicants and majors in acting training in theatrical art.
