The purpose of this study is to develop an Enneagram program for self-reflection of counselors, to verify the effects on counselor self-reflection, counselor’s burnout, stress coping style, and psychological well-being, and to exploratively analyze the experience process of participating counselors. To promote a more integrated understanding of this study, I have used a sequential descriptive research design method. When conducting quantitative analysis, I have run an effectiveness verification test on the Enneagram program. Counselor's with less than 5 years of experiences participated in the experiment, and they were divided into an experimental group(n=14) and an untreated control group(n=15). The experimental group participated in 10 sessions of 150 minutes throughout 7 weeks. To test the effectiveness of the program, parameters such as counselor's introspection, coping with stress methods, psychological well-being were used and the retrieved data were analyzed using SPSS WIN 24.0. In conducting qualitative analysis, I have run a purposeful sampling on 6 participants to conduct detailed qualitative content analysis method on each participant through collecting interviews. In this paper, I synthesize the results of the study and make suggestions for future research and the limitations of the current study. This study's results can be organized like the following. First, the Enneagram program for self-reflection of the counselor developed in this study is based on the six stages of the development model of the group counseling program of Cheong Sung-moon (2017) (planning, demand analysis, composition, preliminary research, execution, evaluation). It was developed as a program that operates for a total of 10 sessions and 150 minutes per session according to the three-step change principle of the course (personality type awareness, self-exploration, growth and change). This program sufficiently reflected the characteristics and needs of the counselors, and was developed according to a systematic procedure, and the development procedure and content composition were developed appropriately and appropriately. Second, through quantitative studies, it was confirmed that the Enneagram program for counselor self-reflection was effective in increasing counselor self-reflection and psychological well-being and reducing bunout. However, it was found that there was no effect in changing the stress coping style. Third, through qualitative research, the experiences of participants in the program could be divided into 6 categories and 16 sub-categories. The six categories are 'Understanding and Recognizing Your Personality', 'Having Confidence as a True Me', 'Accepting and Loving Yourself as You Are', 'Connecting with People and Feeling Intimacy', 'Notice Discomfort and Differently Coping' and 'Experience change and growth as a counselor'. Through the analysis, the experiences of positive change in counselor self-reflection, counselor’s burnout, stress coping style, and psychological well-being were confirmed. Fourth, through the qualitative research analysis, it was confirmed that the 1st and 8th types of participants in this program showed different aspects in the experience of change according to personality characteristics. Summarizing the above results, it can be concluded that this program is effective in increasing self-reflection and psychological well-being of counselors and reducing counselor’s burnout, and partially in changing stress coping styles. The significance of this research is at the fact that this is the first attempt at confirming that the Enneagram program can be a useful tool in increasing the self-reflection of counselors. Furthermore, this research confirms, through conducting both quantitative and qualitative analysis tests, that the program can positively affect the reduction in counselor’s burnout rate, stress coping style, and psychological well-being.
