The purpose of this study is to effectively operate integrated safety education for 2 year olds. This study was intended to examine the changes and their meanings of teachers, infants, and researchers through a collaborative action process that recognizes the problems of safety education for infants and seeks ways to improve them. The problems set according to the purpose of this study are as follows.
First, what should be the collaborative action research process for integrated safety education for infants aged 2 years? Second, what is the meaning of collaborative action research for integrated safety education for infants aged 2 years?
The researcher conducted this study in cooperation with two 2-year-old teachers in N childcare center for about 6 months from February to July 2019. The study participants include two main teachers in Sammul class, each teacher has a career of three years as a teacher K and two years as a teacher S. Data were collected through methods such as interviews with teachers, observation of participation, consultation between teachers and researchers, sharing opinions through SNS, literature and journals. Based on the results of analyzing the collected data, the research results are as follows. First, the process of collaborative action research for integrated safety education was conducted as follows. Teachers and researchers first formed a cooperative relationship for the effective operation of integrated safety education for infants aged 2 years. Subsequently, problems were derived through various data collection and analysis and in-depth interviews between teachers and researchers. The problems were categorized into 'selecting inappropriate contents of safety education for infants', 'inappropriate teaching methods of safety education for infants', and 'ambiguity in the selection objectives of safety education for infants'. First, for inappropriate contents of safety education for infants, the implementation plan was carried out for the field of prevention of disappearance and abduction. Second, for inappropriate teaching methods of safety education for infants, the implementation plan was carried out for the area of knowledge of traffic safety. Third, for ambiguous objectives of safety education for infants, the planning and implementation process was carried out in areas of drug abuse to establish safety education goals cleary. The implementation plan, implementation, evaluation, reflection and revision were carried out in the first process, and the implementation plan, implementation and comprehensive evaluation were conducted secondly. Through those processes, three plans were established: 'Selecting safety education suitable for development characteristics of two-year-olds," "applying safety teaching methods suitable for development characteristics of two-year-olds," and "establishing clear safety education goals for safety of two-year-olds." Second, the meaning of collaborative practice research for integrated safety education of children aged 2 years old could be confirmed in terms of teachers, infants and researchers. The meaning of collaborative action research in terms of teachers was shown in three ways: First, In the previous stage of collaborative action research, the attitude of 'teachers who failed to select appropriate safety education contents for infants' was shown. they felt that the safety education contents were not suitable for the daily life of infants and that it was not suitable for the development characteristics of infants. Through a collaborative action research process, we were able to see that they became change into a "teacher who has gained confidence through the promotion of safety education expertise." With the contents of safety education suitable for the development characteristics of infants, they gained confidence in the selection of education contents based on the expertise in safety education through the re-execution process after implementation and revision of integrated safety education. Second, in the previous stage of collaborative action research, the attitude of 'teachers who felt it difficult to teach safety education' was shown. They recognized the teaching methods were not suitable for the infant level, which is a simple viewer of audiovisual materials, as a problem. Through the collaborative action research, teachers were able to change their teaching methods of safety education into 'teachers who can deliver the teaching methods of safety education to fellow teachers'. Instead of simply delivering knowledge, they were able to select teaching methods that could recognize risks and shape coping ability into habits of living. And they showed a changed attitude of delivering it to their fellow teachers through the teachers community. Third, in the previous stage of collaborative action research, the teachers were seen as 'teachers with ambiguity in selecting safety education goals'. Teachers who did not receive professional education on safety education were limited to setting clear educational goals according to the characteristics of children aged 2 years old at the national level. However, the collaborative action research process has changed to 'teachers who can set safety education goals suitable for age'. Through the collaborative action research process, various integrated safety education programs were developed based on knowledge of safety education and teaching methods, and the ability to establish educational goals suitable for infant characteristics was developed. The meaning of collaborative action research in terms of infants was shown in three ways: First, in the previous stage of collaborative action research, the infants were seen as 'infants who were not aware of the danger'. There was a lack of knowledge and skills in risk situations. However, the re-executive process of integrated safety education activities suitable for infants has changed to "infants who have come to recognize and cope with risks." They were aware of the danger situation and were therefore shown to apply the safety techniques they had mastered. Second, in the previous stage of collaborative action research, the infants were seen as 'infants whose safety lifestyle had not been formed'. The infants understood safety knowledge and technology, but were exposed to danger due to the lack of a complete lifestyle. However, they changed to "infants who have learned safe habits" through repeated activities during the course of action research. The safety knowledge and safety techniques previously learned were changed to infants who were habitually used in their daily lives. Third, infants had the existing attitude of "self-centered thinking infants." This attitude caused a lack of awareness of risk situations and risk factors. However, through the implementation process of integrated safety education, it had been confirmed that infants have become 'infants who have become interested in others and their surroundings'. Integrated safety education, which is configured for infant development characteristics, increases opportunities to communicate with peers around them, naturally learns interest and consideration for others, and furthermore, by having an interest in the surrounding environment, one can predict risks faster. The meaning of collaborative action research in terms of researchers was shown in two ways: First, in the previous stage of collaborative action research, the researchers showed the attitude of 'researchers who felt the need for integrated safety education'. The researchers as the teachers felt the need for integrated safety education to improve the level of educational contents and teaching methods suitable for 2-year-old infants. But through a collaborative action research process, researchers have been able to observe the change to 'research who experienced the in-depth understanding of integrated safety education'. The results of the study showed that integrated safety education, not just a need, was suitable for infant characteristics and had its effects and effects. Second, in the previous stage of collaborative action research, researchers had an attitude of "researching teachers for lack of safety expertise." The existing child care and administrative works lacked the opportunity and environment to develop expertise in safety education. However, through a collaborative action research process that can supplement this, it was changed into a 'research who moves toward cooperative relations based on understanding of fellow teachers'. Through collaborative relationships between researchers who provide professional advice and teachers who can implement it on education field, both teachers and researchers have been able to achieve growth and development. Through this collaborative relationship between teachers and researchers, researchers were able to recheck their own professional knowledge and further develop themselves as educators.
