Since 2015, coworking spaces have emerged in Korea. Not only domestic but also global trends show that the number of coworking spaces is increasing sharply. The coworking space market multiplied with various social, economic, and technological developments and became saturated with many similar types of coworking spaces. Under the circumstance, job-specific coworking spaces are evolving into a new kind. The job-specific coworking spaces have different advantages from conventional coworking spaces. To satisfy a single occupational group, it provides office space and a professional space program or infrastructure necessary to perform the job and a better environment for people of the same occupational group to exert synergy in a single space. This study intended to determine the latest trends through theoretical examination of a new job-specific coworking space and propose a space to interior designers. Interior design is an activity of creatively designing a living space beneficial to users by satisfying various conditions for everything occupied by people. It has a job characteristic composed of a complex process that needs to consider a wide range of issues and current conditions. This study divided the job of interior design primarily into three stages: analysis stage, comprehensive stage, and evaluation stage. It also divided these stages into 45 very diverse job processes, from project planning to safety management at the construction stage. This study found that collaboration with designers from various fields and partners’ clients is essential to implement this in this profession. This study reviewed existing programs for working space and derived programs for coworking space through the interior designer’s job process. It also calculated the space area for each program and the standard area of the office space. Through this process, it was understood that interior designers need more workspace and office space required for work and various spaces such as libraries and laboratories, unlike ordinary workspaces. The design project was carried out based on the interior designer’s job specialization program derived through research. This project intended to further enhance the synergy effect and increase contact spaces by opening all infrastructure programs except for the minimum office space by designing a space with increased openness and sharing, instead of an office space used as private space as in existing coworking spaces. The design also intended to place several touch points between the interior designer and the visitor by introducing the concept, “We:Being”, to increase the contact space. As it was deemed that the interior design field is a job group that requires cooperation with various people and companies and synergy is essential accordingly, this project implemented a strategy that specializes and individualizes the coworking space from selecting the target site to the design of the space. An ordinary coworking space may not require this for the majority or by other types of coworking spaces. As shown in this study, coworking space tends to be characterized recently, and it should be explicitly individualized for the type of user or job group. Therefore, it is deemed necessary to develop spatial strategies and spatial designs individualized for every kind of coworking space in line with these trends.
