Third, after proposing the list of picture books for the speaking classes to meet the characteristics of children and mothers from multicultural families, proper picture books for their Korean speaking education were selected by verification of the visiting teachers for the Korean language. Fourth, development plans of speaking class program were proposed using picture books for children and mothers from multicultural families. The whole programs consisted of onsite classes together with teachers and children and home classes that mothers participated in. Onsite classes together with teachers and children were made of 3 steps including activities before, during, and after the speaking class. The detailed curriculum was designed with 5 steps, ‘introduction-development-concentration-expansion-summary.’ Family related program applying the characteristics of multicultural families were developed in this study, and this program implicates to assist the enhancement of speaking and communication skill in Korean from infants who are initial developmental stage for language up to the learners who require the basic Korean language.
