It is also important to give away fewer allowed runs, but baseball is a sport that wins only when a lot of runs are made. To make a run, hitters have to get on base. To get on base, hitters need a good Batting Eye. But the Batting Eye can be defined in many ways, such as the ability to distinguish the ball that enters the strike zone's in/out, or the ability to pick the ball well from one's preferred course. In this study, the Batting Eye was defined as the ability to distinguish the ball by location, so that the distinction between the balls entering the strike zone's in/out and the individual swing selection was made to analyze whether the course of the batter's preference or strength was well distinguished. To carry out the research, the research subjects selected 30 batters from 59 players who completed regular at-bats for three seasons and form first group from 1st to 10th in batting average, second group from 25th to 35th, and third group from 49th to 59th. The study used the statcast data provided by MLB and proceeded with the data pretreatment process, such as removing missing values. The swing zones used in the study were newly manipulated to fit this study, and each zone was divided into four zones (above the body center, above the outer center, below the body center and below the outer center). To ensure that the batter distinguished the ball/strike well, the B/S index was defined for the swing of the strike zone in/out using odds and conditions for swings and hits in the zone to identify the area in which the batter has strengths. Cross-analysis, B/S index and strength index were used for data processing methods. The results of the study are as follows. Individual players showed different areas of strength and weakness. Most of the players were shown to have strengths below the center of the body, but some showed strengths above the center of the body and above the center of the outside. On the other hand, the weakness of the players was mainly shown above the center of the body and above the center of the outside, but also under the center of the body and below the center of the outside. When analyzing the swing direction of players according to the type of pitcher, there were players with strong points regardless of the type of pitcher, and there were also players with different strengths and weaknesses depending on the type of pitcher. To determine the swing selection type of hitters, the B/S index and the strength index were used, and the results were as follows. The overall B/S index was 5.1149, and the group B/S index showed the highest in the third group of batting average. Based on the B/S index according to the type of pitcher, the left-handed batter had a high B/S index when dealing with the right-handed pitcher and the right-handed batter with the right-handed batter had a high B/S index when dealing with the left-handed pitcher. When comparing the B/S index and the strength index of the hitters, there were players who had low B/S index, but high strength index depending on the area. Through this, it is judged that there are areas where strengths appear for each athlete. The study analyzed the swing selection propensity of the batter, and hopes that the batter will identify his strengths and weaknesses, and the pitcher will be able to use them as basic data for establishing strategies when dealing with the batter.
