Purpose: This study analyzes the factors that influence the practice of cross-infection prevention of COVID-19 and infectious diseases, which is gradually increasing among the global COVID-19 pandemic and the degree of knowledge related to COVID-19, the degree of awareness and practice related to the prevention of COVID-19 infection. This study was conducted to provide basic data for practicing the prevention of cross-infection by investigating factors related to hospital organization and to identify factors that influence the establishment of effective infection control measures and improvement of infection control performance. Methods: The subject of the study was a self-written online questionnaire for 300 dental hygienists in office and 263 copies were collected and used. For data analysis, exploratory factor analysis was conducted to test the validity of the tool. In addition, reliability analysis was conducted to find out whether it has internal consistency reliability. Statistical methods include Independent t-test, One way ANOVA, Scheffé ad hoc test, Pearson's Correlation coefficient and Multiple Linear Regression. For statistical processing, IBM SPSS Statistics 25 (SPSS Inc., Chicago IL, USA) was used and a p value of less than 0.05 was judged to be significant. Results: The average age of dental hygienists participating in this study was 31.44 years old and the average working experience was 5.96 years. As for the level of education, professional bachelor's was the most at 57.4%, and dental clinics had the most at 55.1%. The task performed was confirmed by multiple reaction analysis and the operation room was the most at 68.1%. The average score of knowledge related to COVID-19 was 4.23±0.75 points, the average score of awareness related to infection prevention was 4.45±0.77 points, the average score of practice degree was 4.26±0.92 points, and the average score of factors related to hospital organization was 4.02±1.05 points. As a point, the average value of awareness related to the prevention of COVID-19 infection was higher than the average value of practice. In addition, the factor that had the greatest influence on the degree of practice related to the prevention of COVID-19 infection was the organizational factors (β=0.491, p<0.001), followed by the level of awareness (β=0.428, p<0.001), and the level of knowledge (β=0.095, p=0.013). Discussion: The factor that had the greatest influence on the degree of practice related to COVID-19 infection prevention was the organizational factors followed by awareness and knowledge. It will be important to prepare guidelines and rules for infection control in hospitals and to have sufficient protective equipment. However if the dental hygienist's practice of wearing protective equipment is low despite the hospital's efforts, it will be difficult to increase the efficiency of infection prevention. To complement this, it is necessary to develop convenient protective equipment and secure time to wear protective equipment and a systematic infection management education system is needed to increase awareness and practice of infection management. In addition, it will be important to prepare guidelines and rules for infection control in hospitals.
