Recently, with the rapid development of information technology, the pace of life has increased, and people have been under much higher pressure. Under this circumstance, some people became interested in how to relieve pressure and created a culture called healing. The dictionary meaning of healing is “physical or mental healing” (Oxford, 2008), which means to heal the wounds of the body or purify the sick and tired mind. Nowadays, healing has become a mainstream in many fields of society. When producers of TV entertainment programs are struggling to find the next turning point, new attractive “healing reality programs” appear, which have no dramatic conflicts. In Korea, “healing reality programs”, such as “Three Meals a Day,” “Youn's Kitchen,” and “Hyori's Homestay,” are prevailing in people’s life, which indicates the era of “healing reality programs” is coming. Although programs with healing effect can satisfy the needs of the public, they are still in the developing period resulting in uneven quality. Therefore, in order to alleviate this situation, this paper will research it by analyzing the characteristics of “healing reality programs” in Korea and China. First of all, it will explore their current situations and narrative characteristics. According to the narrative compositions, this paper will make comparisons between two “healing reality programs”, named “Hyori's Homestay” and “Hello, Life” respectively, to investigate their innovations of narration and analyze their similarities and differences. Furthermore, it will demonstrate the implications of entertainment programs by discussing the strengths and weaknesses of each of the two “healing reality programs”. Additionally, it is expected that this paper will contribute to the development of “healing reality programs” in Korea and China and even contribute to the cultural inheritance of healing.
