This study examines works and features of the expression of sublime in art history and analyzes the meaning of the sublime and how it is expressed in the researcher's work. The studied artwork was emphasized the importance of expression techniques in the infinite repetition, expandability, scalability and fractal. The researcher presents new possibilities for these expression techniques and expressive media. In this study, researcher analyzes the visual composition and meaning of the work to 'visualize' the 'sublimeness of invisible experience’. This proves that the inspiration received from the stars and the universe has been sublimated into a sublime experience through performative artwork. In the process, the researcher established ‘Triple Universe Theory’ and 'Triangular Abstraction', emphasizing the planarity of painting and reaching 'Hyper-Abstract' represented by three-dimensional layers of space in the flat surface of painting. Through invisible experience, the researcher ultimately reached the quest for ontological sublimity and, as a result of the reasons, provided an opportunity for a philosophy of cosmic mentality. The researcher focused on the ‘manifestation of cosmic mentality’ by visualizing certain non-visible and non-visible beings behind the trauma of the stars. Through this, light – darkness and the visible – began to construct together the quantum of the invisible. The concept of ‘action’ and ‘space’ is the basis of the researcher’s art activities throughout both the first period of the ‘Performance Period (2003-2014)’ and the second period of ‘Star Period (2014-2022)’. A consistent characteristic that appears throughout the first period of attempting multiple media experiments, including performance, and the second period, which expresses the spirit of the universe and the experience of sublimity by focusing on ‘star’ is that it expresses a formative will through the performative act of artwork. The unconscious world that the researcher wanted to recreate during the performance period entered a full-fledged star period, by finishing with paintings using ‘star’ in pop art manner. From the performance period of surreal pop art through unconscious imagination to the present star period, the common denominator of ‘acting’ is ongoing with current. Even at the ‘star’ period researcher repeatedly attempted to ‘breakout’ through various media activities, not limited to the ‘illusion’ it creates through the ‘performance’ of various workflows. The purpose of this study to examine the meaning of the sublime in researcher’s ‘Universe_( )’ series artwork of the ‘Star’ period (2014∼2022) to establish the work theory. The focus was placed on the originality of the researcher's sublime experiential spatial expression. Based on previous studies on the sublime aesthetics of art history, basic theories were organized, and literature research was conducted based on the data related to art criticism and interpretation of the researcher's work. The contents of the study led from a study of contemporary space and its boundaries to a study of the scalability of media. As a result, the researcher found a similarity between the expandability of digital media and spirituality. This evolved into a cosmic spirituality and ultimately established the ‘Triple Universe Theory’ consisting of matter, mind, and spirit. The researcher's work shows the process in which inspiration from the invisible arena reaches ontological expansion through the sublime experience. These research results will make an academic contribution to the analysis of the realism of the sublime. The researcher uses the night sky, starlight, morning star, space, dust, and cells as invisible materials symbolizing the sublime experience in the work. Using these materials projects the symbol of cosmic spirituality and the art-historical concept of the sublime. Furthermore, the paintings have drawn from fields such as literature, science, fashion, and architecture and collaborated with professionals in those fields. This also shows an ontological expansion from painting. This collaboration demonstrates the widespread use of the universal characteristics of fine art – characteristics that are directly absorbed by objective observers through methodical elements that are visually projected - in many areas. This is an indication of how the universal elements of fine art, or the method of fine art reach the expansion of the realm. These researcher's efforts to continuously expand the realm and their new aesthetic pursuits demonstrate the ontological expansion of the underlying elements of painterly innocence. The researcher made various formative attempts based on humanistic and religious inquiry into the invisible aspects of the universe. As a result, the boundary between reality and abstraction was erased in the conception of the researcher. The characteristic of abstraction is to emphasize one aspect of the object to be expressed and to express it repeatedly. Through abstract painting the researcher realized something substantial by removing the ambiguity felt in the words of abstraction and highlighting, emphasizing, and repeating certain aspects of the essence of the object. Abstract art, which emphasized one side of reality, has resulted in a stronger reality for the researcher than hyper-realism or photo-realism art. The substance of the researcher's work that reproduces elements outside of representation is to discover the truth of the invisible world. The researcher's work is to find interest in the existence of the invisible world in art, and to find the truth through working and thinking about where the 'Source of Works of Art' may be found. Collectively, throughout the process of work, the researcher named this visual searching ‘Hyper-Abstract’. In the researcher's work, the touch and color emphasized in the painting provided an aesthetic experience different from the image in the digital media era. In the researcher's work, layer construction is a visualized expression of time and space, similar to the concept of a digital layer, and the researcher has also titled it 'Starlight Fossil'. In reality, implementing our visible ‘starlight’ through a layer of repetitive lines is similar to the digital implementation technique implemented through 0 and 1. As researcher constructs repetitive layers, drawing the visible ‘starlight’ on us achieves a structural firestorm through continuous, long-standing components such as fossils. It is a repetitive and imprinted work, like a ‘fossil’ and the result of that work is remembered as a beautiful work for the visitor. The researcher crossed the boundaries between analog and digital sensibility through the work and projected the sublime aesthetics on the boundary between abstraction and realism, and the phenomenon in which planes and three-dimensionality are erased. The researcher expanded the boundaries of the self through artistic activities using the expression of sublime experiential space. The images of light, stars, and the universe created by the researcher throw messages of comfort, hope, and love, and show illusions and expansions created through actions beyond representation. Regarding the nature of ‘lyric’ Ernst Fischer (1947∼ ) said, “The desire to return to the source” was intended to suggest the essence of the work. Primordial space and time, where the self and the world are not separated, are the underlying worlds. The world of space and realistic self-left in these memories cannot go into primordial space or time before division. Nostalgia is possible through art made only by the power of love. What the researcher's ego waits for is a fleeting objective time in which ‘the flowers of hope gather’ and become ‘light’. It interprets the emotional subtlety and perception of the pain of life and manifests itself as a serene internalization. It is perhaps the artist's calling to find a ‘light of hope’ that is not missed even if the ‘leaf’ loses. The way man seeks hope and comfort in the awe of an inscrutable universe of incalculable depths, an indefinable infinite time and space, is an element of art's pursuit of the subject. From the moment we are born into a single living entity, we use all kinds of senses of our bodies to accumulate detailed awareness. Throughout life, it is through a long process of organizing information and self-forming the forms of the world derived from it. Therefore, even in the same physical environment, the quality and quantity of experience, and the conditions under which it leads, make all of our worlds surprisingly different. Human awareness of something begins with experiencing and identifying my outside one by one. The researcher's picture fractalizes the relationship between me and the outside that becomes self-aware as soon as the world is recognized. Researcher encounters the ‘essence of life’ as an artistic element gained through this process. Researcher sees the location of art as a means of human-transcendental connection and communication in an age when the source of human abundance transitions from physical resources to knowledge resources, providing people with new inspiration and content. The researcher wants to spread good ideas to people, convey the light of love and hope, and blossom cosmic spirit and spirituality. The researcher sees the present age as a time when the movement beyond the metaverse, which sees the universe beyond the boundaries of the universe to the next, is expected to be multiverse. Even in this mechanical, scientific and transitional time, the super-polar relationship at the heart of exquisite harmony and relationships is 'love'. Art and culture are the biggest pillars of integrating and bringing humanity together to create a society where mentality and spirituality triumph. Until now, in a society that is subject to matter and domination, there is now a society that helps one another does much of its good and has a great mentality triumph. Art is a genre where mentality prevails, and it will be the center of this social flow. The researcher hopes that for mankind to achieve continuous development, it will always go through the process of spiritual evolution, realizing the inevitability of a mental and spiritual transition from material dominance to spiritual dominance. The researcher's art world, which seeks cosmic harmony by spiritual superiority in contemporary art that ushers in the era of great transition, is significant.
