Based on the essential meaning of positivity, this study aims to examine the effectiveness of drama therapy for positivity by presenting a flow to reach positivity in the process of drama therapy by combining the structural characteristics of drama therapy with the suggestion method for happiness of positive psychology. For this purpose, the researcher defined the meaning of the positive and thereby, explored the step wise flow and suitability in the drama therapy structure based on the major concepts of the positive psychology and the suggestions for happiness. Above all, as a result of reviewing the meaning of 'positive', the following findings were confirmed.First, the positive is not about the personality but about the ways of thinking and the attitude derived from recognition and accommodation, so in order to be positive, it is essential to be aware of 'me'. Since the excessive positive may well lead to an obsessive self-coercion, we should not distort the subject but admit what is as it is. Such an attitude would conform to the genuine 'positive'. Namely, we can approach a self-overcoming state when we neither look away from the negative aspects nor suppress them to accept them.Secondly, as a result of reviewing the positions on happiness based on the major concepts of the positive psychology by dividing them into hedonism and self-realization, it could be confirmed that the two positions are not different from each other but are promoting each other. Namely, the final goal of life pursued by experience of immersion and development of strengths would conform to the positivestate of mind and the satisfaction with life.Thirdly, as a result of reviewing the criteria for health to examine the meanings of the positive and happiness in the drama therapy, it was found that the criteria for health in the drama therapy would be related with the diagnosis and that the process of the drama therapy to recover participants' health proper for their unique characteristics, namely the psychological growth to identify participants' fundamental problems and solve them, would well be in line with the goal of treatment.Based on such findings, the researcher reviewed the flow of approaching the positive in the structure of the drama therapy and thereby, discussed the drama therapist's role for the positive. As a result of structuralizing the external structure 'warm-up - main activity - closing' argued by the drama therapists and dividing the experience of immersion into 'introduction - peak - end' steps, and thereby, matching them in terms of characteristics, it was found that the introduction stage conformed to the complete participation, the peak stage to the optimal experience and the end stage conformed to the perfect introspection stage. The internal structure of the drama therapy or the stages of 'ordinary reality - dramatic reality' would pass the rite of passage or the three stages of 'separation from the ordinary life, 'symbolic death' and reintegration' and thereby, we would depart from the narrow-minded thinking and fixed roles to find the internal assistants only to expand our roles and live a prosperous life. Based on the above discussions, the researcher examined the participants' characters by dividing them into 'avoidant' and 'expressive', and thus, confirmed that the order of 'awareness of negative' and 'awareness of positive' should be reversed. The avoidant participants tended to use their power to confront the negative and solve the problems only to reach the positive state of mind through a new discovery of their self-portrait, while the expressive participants overcome their problematic negative aspects to reach the positive state of mind. Thus, both of them reintegrate their former life with a new one.In this process, the drama therapists are obliged to encourage the participants to indulge themselves in the most proper states depending on their characteristics. Here, the therapists are obliged to create an environment for both participants group to be properly indulged in consideration of their characteristics. Thus, the therapists could well be 'a producer' who composes an dramatic world or 'a promoter' helping the participants to demonstrate their strengths to the fullest. This study may well be significant in that it has suggested a phased flow of approaching the positive state in the structure of drama therapy based on the major concepts of the positive psychology and thereby, has confirmed the efficacy of the drama therapy.
