IT has contributed to changing and improving the way humans learn. Using IT, it has become an era that is widely used as a learning medium in the educational field under the names of e-learning, blended learning, and technology mediated learning. Now, online museums have emerged by actively utilizing IT in museums, which are representative institutions of lifelong learning. Learning in museums has played a complementary role in formal education as a "self-directed and participatory learning environment" with object-based learning characteristics using exhibits that are the core of the museum and contain socio-cultural contexts. Online museums are places where knowledge can be obtained equally and easily beyond time and space constraints, and have the advantage of gaining higher quality educational knowledge by freely viewing and learning not only foreign museums, educational institutions, and research institutes. In particular, as of April 2020, 94.7% of the world's museums were closed due to COVID-19, and large museums are strengthening their digital response services by more than 15%. In China, the number of museum exhibitions has also decreased significantly since 2020, and it has led to a rapid transition to online exhibitions. At a time when the function of "education" among the roles and functions of museums has been emphasized again in recent years, online museums are attracting a lot of attention as a place that can further strengthen the educational function of these museums. Therefore, an in-depth reconsideration of the construction of online museums will be needed as a way to preserve online museums and reduce the gap in national culture. Therefore, an in-depth reconsideration of the construction of online museums will be needed as a way to preserve online museums and reduce the gap in national culture. However, informal and self-directed learning characteristics such as museums can be a factor that makes it easy to give up learning. In online-based learning, it is known that even if users accept it in the early stages, they frequently stop using it. Initial acceptance is an important first step in online-based learning, but it is still essential for continuous use for successful learning in practice. This means that the online museum's "education" function can only be successful if it induces user participation and maintains continuous use. Therefore, it is necessary to check what factors affect the intention to continue learning after using an online museum. Thus, identifying factors that affect online museum intentions will not only help online museum developers design popular content, but also help suppliers design strategies to increase online museum use. Meanwhile, most museums around the world are converting to digital services due to the development of information and communication technology and COVID-19, but more than half of them have less than 10% of the budget allocated to digital services. Some museums want to attract visitors using digital content and improve their experiences, but they are having difficulty using digital technology due to lack of budget. For this, it is necessary to clearly explain the realistic economic value of online museums. Therefore, this study aims to focus on the intention of continuous use and identify the factors that form it from the perspective that users' continuous use is essential for the development and success of online museum education functions. In addition, in order to evaluate the possibility of digital transformation of museums suffering from problems such as lack of budget, we would like to conduct a valuation using Contingent Valuation Method through virtual scenarios.
Research Question 1: What is the influence relationship between the interaction of online museums and the intention to continue learning? Research Question 2: What is the economic value of online museums?
In order to solve the above research problems, this study conducted research 1 on the learning effect of online museums and research 2 that estimated the economic value of online museums. First, the purpose of Study 1 is to check how it affects the interaction of online museums and the intention of users to continue learning. To this end, an extended expectation confidence model was applied by adding interaction, perceived ease, and cognitive immersion to the standard expectation confidence model, and an empirical analysis was conducted on 800 Chinese with online museum experience. SPSS 26 and AMOS 26 were used for empirical analysis. As a result of the analysis, except for personalization, which is a detailed factor of interactivity, actrol control, synchronicity, and two-way communication have a significant positive (+) effect on user confidence, confirming that interactivity is an important external variable for confirmation. In addition, confirmation had a positive (+) effect on perceived usefulness, perceived ease, and cognitive absorption, and it was found that perceived usefulness, perceived ease, and cognitive absorption had a positive (+) effect on learning satisfaction. Next, it was confirmed that perceived usefulness, cognitive absorption, and learning satisfaction had a positive (+) effect on the intention to continue learning. In Study 2, the online palace museum representing China was selected as the subject of the study to estimate the preservation value of the online museum. In order to evaluate the value of online museums that are currently open for free, research was conducted using the Contingent Valuation Method. A survey was conducted on Chinese people who had experience in online museums to estimate the amount of users' willingness to pay for online museums. As a result of the analysis, the willingness to pay was derived at 28.078 yuan(5,194 won) per person per year for the construction and preservation of online museums. As a result of estimating the total economic value of the online museum based on the derived willingness to pay, the non-market value of the online museum was estimated to be about 1.219 million yuan (about 222.3 billion won) per year. The theoretical implications of this study are as follows. First, the scope of the theory was expanded by applying the Expectation Confirmation Model(ECM) to online museums. Second, interactivity was measured on a multidimensional scale and examined in detail. Third, the theoretical validity of the Extended Expectation Confirmation Model(E-ECM) was verified. Fourth, by overcoming the limitations of explaining intrinsic motivation only with the concept of pleasure, it was verified using cognitive absorption, a complex concept with five dimensions as a sub-concept. Fifth, the economic value of online museums was evaluated for the first time using the Contingent Valuation Method. Next, the practical implications of this study are as follows. First, in order to increase the intention of online museum users to continue learning, it is necessary to consider the design characteristics of the system. Second, it is necessary to recognize that the degree to which users perceive usefulness, ease of use, and cognitive absorption may vary depending on conviction through previous experiences, and to find ways to maximize quality or utility when providing the first service. Third, the possibility of digital transformation of museums that are having difficulty using digital technology due to lack of funds should be reviewed. This study confirmed the possibility of successful educational functions of online museums, a representative institution of lifelong learning, and evaluated the possibility of digital conversion of museums suffering from budget shortages. However, there are still many issues that online museums need to solve as a new service. Therefore, it is expected that this study will contribute to the revitalization and continuous growth of online museums in the future.
