본 연구의 목적은 국내 대학도서관에서의 전자저널 이용 통계 제공 및 활용 현황을 조사하는 데 있다. 이를 위하여 서울 및 경기 소재 63개 대학교 및 대학도서관을 대상으로 온라인 설문지조사를 시행하였고 이 중 48개 도서관으로부터 응답지를 회수하여 그 결과를 분석하였다. 분석 결과 현재 제공되고 있는 이용 통계 데이터에 대한 만족도는 낮게 나타났으며 특히 비교 가능한 데이터의 부재 문제와 구독 대학도서관 전체의 평균 이용률에 대한 정보가 제공되지 않는 데 따른 불만이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 더불어 선행연구 조사 및 현행 이용 데이터에 대한 분석을 통해 전자저널 평가에 활용할 수 있는 이용 데이터 통계치로서 5가지 유형을 고찰하였다.
