가족레질리언스 접근은 어떤 과정인가? 가족레질리언스 접근은 위기와 역경에 처한 가족이 이것을 변화와 도전으로 인식하고, 가족관계와 기능에 기초하여 가족의 강점과 자원을 탐색하며 가족구성원이 서로 지지하고 협력하여 문제를 해결해나가는 가족의 레질리언스가 강화되도록 가족을 지원하고 지지하는 과정이다(Walsh, 1998). 가족레질리언스에 관한 연구는 장애아동을 가진 가족의 가족레질리언스(Kim, 2000; Patterson, 1991; Singer & Power, 1993), 뇌손상 가족의 적응(Kosciulek, McCubbin, & McCubbin, 1993; Lee & Son, 2008), 알코올 중독자 부모를 둔 자녀의 적응(Park, 1998; Wollin, 1980), 한부모 가족의 가족레질리스(Kim, 2005), 경제적 문제와 청소년의 성장에 초점을 둔 가족레질리언스(Conger & Conger, 2002; Garmezy, 1991) 등에 관하여 이루어졌으며 많은 문제와 스트레스를 가지고 있는 가족들의 기능수행에 중요한 영향을 미치고 있음을 밝히고 있다.
암환자가 경험하는 상실은 무엇이 있는가? 암환자가 경험하는 상실을 구체적으로 살펴보면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 신체적 상실을 경험한다. 암세포가 있는 부분이나 전이된 장기를 수술을 통해 절제함으로 신체의 일부를 상실하게 되거나 수술과 수반되는 신체적 기능약화 등을 말한다. 둘째, 심리적 상실로 정체성, 꿈, 희망, 목표의 상실 등을 말할 수 있다. 예를 들면 자궁이나 유방적출 등의 수술을 받은 여성들은 신체적 상실뿐만 아니라 심리적 상실도 심하게 경험한다. 여성으로서 성정체성, 성역할의 위기를 경험하며 우울, 불안, 죄책감을 느낀다고 한다(Han, 2005). 셋째, 사회적 상실로서 직업, 역할, 지위, 기능, 사회적 유대감 상실 등이다. 암진단을 받은 환자는 암이 환자에게 영구적인 신체의 손상을 주거나, 재발 혹은 전이가 되어 치명적이 될 수 있기 때문에 정서적으로 심한 충격을 받게 된다.
