정서적 지지가 효율적인 대처, 적응, 심리적·신체적 안녕감을 예언하는 지표임을 알 수 있는 연구는? | 정서적 지지는 사회적 지지를 구성하는 한 요소로, 돌봄과 사랑을 받고 있다고 믿게 하는 정도(Cobb, 1979)이며, 개인이 어려움에 처했을 때 타인이 제공해주는 정신적인 도움으로 정서적 지지를 통하여 효율적인 대처, 적응, 심리적·신체적 안녕감을 예언하는 지표가 될 수 있다(Pierce, Sarason, & Sarason, 1992). 실제 선행연구를 살펴보면, 정서적 지지의 지각은 부적응이나 정신질환 및 심리적 안녕감과 관련이 있으며(Han, 1996), Kim(2005)은 사회적 지지가 학교생활적응에 미치는 영향에 대해서 연구한 결과 학교적응의 하위영역 중 교사, 친구, 수업적응에 영향을 미치는 변인으로 사회적지지의 하위영역 중에서 정서적 지지의 영향력이 가장 큰 변인이라고 보고하였다. 또한 정서적 지지의 대상으로서 어머니와 또래의 정서적 지지는 아동의 학교적응에 지대한 영향을 미치는 것으로 밝혀지고 있으며(Hay &Ashman, 2003; Sarason, 1990), 정서적 지지를 많이 받는다고 지각할수록 학교생활적응에 긍정적이다. 즉 아동이 주변 사람으로부터 사랑과 관심, 이해 및 격려 등 정서적으로 지지를 많이 받을수록 학교생활적응에 긍정적임을 시사한다. |
