To achieve such goal of study, I analyzed the study trend of infant multicultural education studies carried in Korean journals per year, research subjects, research objects and research methods. As a result of this study, first, the number of studies related to infant multicultural education carried in Korean journals articles from 2001 to 2012 was a total of 190 pieces; for year, 27 pieces in 2008, 23 pieces in 2009, 40 pieces in 2010, 46 pieces in 2011 and 36 pieces in 2012, totaling 172 pieces corresponding to 90.5% of the entire thesis. This means that the number of study thesis began to increase substantially from 2008, meaning increased necessity of multicultural education in the field of child education. Second, as a result of analyzing the study trend per research subjects, research subjects was found in the order of 'beliefs recognition attitudes efficacy'(60 pieces), 'child development and adaptation'(48 pieces), 'programs and scale development'(28 pieces). Third, as a result of analyzing the study trend per objects of research, research objects was found in the order of 'teacher'(75 pieces), 'child'(67 pieces), 'literature'(43 pieces). 따라서 본 연구의 목적은 2001년에서 2012년까지 국내 KCI 등재 및 등재후보 학술지에 게재된 논문을 연구대상으로 하여 유아 다문화교육 관련 연구 동향을 분석하였으며, 이 분석결과를 바탕으로 하여 향후 다문화교육의 연구 수행에 기초 자료를 제공하고자 한다. 이러한 연구목적을 달성하기 위한 구체적인 연구내용은 다음과 같다.

국내 학술지에 게재된 유아 다문화교육 관련 연구 동향 분석에서 주로 활용한 연구방법은 문헌 연구, 양적 연구, 질적 연구 등으로 구분하여 분석하였지만(Kim, Sang-Lim, et al., 2011; Seo, Hyun-AhㆍKim, Jung-Ju, 2010), 본 연구에서는 연구방법에서 자주 활용되는 통합 연구를 추가하여 연구방법을 문헌 연구, 양적 연구, 질적 연구, 통합 연구 등으로 구분하여 분석하였다. 또한, 본 연구에서는 연구방법 분석에서 한 논문에 두 개 이상의 연구방법을 포함하고 있는 경우에는 연구 방법을 각각 복수 처리하여 분석하였다.

먼저 국회전자도서관과 한국교육학술정보원(KERIS) 및 한국학술정보(주)의 데이터베이스를 활용하여 국내 학술지 논문을 대상으로 ‘다문화교육’과 ‘유아교육’을 주제어로 검색하였으며, 그 결과 235편의 논문을 일차적으로 선정하였다. 그 중에서 KCI 등재와 KCI 등재후보에 해당하는 학술지 논문을 선정하기 위하여 해당되지 않는 논문 45편을 제외한 총 190편을 2차 최종 선정하였으며, 이 190편을 연구의 분석대상으로 설정하였다.

이상과 같이, 유아 다문화교육 관련 연구 동향 분석은 지금까지 11편의 연구가 수행되었지만, 보다 폭넓은 연구의 수행은 이루어지지 않았다. 이에 본 연구에서는 2010년까지 수행된 108편의 논문과 2011년에서 2012년까지 수행된 최신 연구인 82편의 논문을 포함하여 190편의 유아 다문화 교육 관련 학술지 게재 논문을 분석하였으며, 특히, 연구주제를 11개로 확대하여 보다 심도 있는 분석에 초점을 두었다.

넷째, 연구방법별로 분석한 결과, 네 가지 연구 방법 중 ‘양적 연구’를 연구방법으로 한 연구가 112편(54.9%)으로 가장 많았으며, 그 다음으로‘문헌 연구’(57편, 27.9%), ‘질적 연구’(31편, 15.2%), ‘통합 연구’(4편, 2.0%) 등의 순으로 나타났다.
