본 연구에서는 소규모대학교에서 대학도서관, 대학기록관, 대학박물관의 설치 및 운영을 할 수 있도록 라키비움을 제안하였다. 연구방법으로 라키비움에 대한 문헌조사, 우리나라 대학교의 현황 조사 및 분석하고 각 기관 담당자와의 면담을 수행했다. 이러한 연구결과를 기반으로 도서관, 기록관 및 박물관을 하나의 기관으로 통합할 수 있는 방안을 제시하였다. 이를 통하여 통합기관으로써 라키비움은 소규모대학교에 있어서 효과적인 역할을 수행할 수 있다. 이를 통해, 본 연구에서는 소규모대학교에서 모든 정보의 관리, 보존 및 서비스가 이루어질 수 있도록 공간 구성을 제안하였다.

Melrose(2004)는 “다른 분야의 사람들이 모여서 진행하는 협업은 복잡한 과정이다. 각 참여자들의 모든 관점을 이해하고 최선의 방법을 찾는 것은 많은 시간과 노력이 필요하다”고 설명한다. 하지만 기관의 구별이 아닌 하나의 기관에서 업무를 수행하기 때문에 조직문화와 기술적 요소가 공통적으로 인지한 상태에서 향후의 모든 업무가 진행되므로 기관 간의 간극은 발생하지 않게 된다. 결국, 이러한 협업적 형태는 궁극적으로 이용자의 정보 요구를 효율적으로 만족시켜 줄 수 있으며, 콘텐츠의 효과적 이용을 기대할 수 있게 된다(서혜란, 2005). 셋째, 각 기관의 기능을 수행하는 공간적 부분을 공유할 수 있게 된다. 위 표에서 나타난 것처럼 정보 매체를 외부 환경으로부터 안전하게 보존하기 위한 공간인 보존 공간, 이용자에게 제공하기 위해 소장하고 있는 자료를 효과적으로 관리하는 관리 공간, 이용자들에게 보다 효과적으로 정보를 제공할 수 있는 서비스 공간으로 구분할 수 있다. 이것은 각 기관이 공통적으로 가지고 있는 공간적인 부분으로서, 각 기관의 설립 목적에 따라 크기나 방식이 약간씩 다를 뿐, 전체적인 맥락으로는 같은 형태를 보이고 있다. 결국, 공통된 공간을 서로 공유하여 기록전문요원, 사서, 큐레이터의 보존 업무를 경감시킴으로써 업무의 과중을 줄일 수 있게 되며, 이용자는 한 장소에서 기록물, 도서, 박물과 관련된 모든 서비스를 제공받을 수 있는 일종의 원스탑서비스가 가능하게 되며, 새로운 정보를 생산함과 동시에 이것을 공유할수 있는 형태로 이루어지게 된다. 이것은 이용자의 만족도를 향상시킬 수 있으며, 향후의 또 다른 이용을 하게 되는 유입 요인으로 작용하게 된다.
