항암화학요법은 어떠한 부작용을 가지는가? | 일반적으로 암 환자는 치료하는 과정에서 항암화학요법을 받게 되는데, 이것은 수술이나 방사선치료의 보조요법으로 사용되기도 하지만 일차적인 암 치료 또는 전이된 암의 치료에 가장 많이 활용되고 있다. 이러한 항 암제가 작용하는 대사경로는 암세포 뿐 아니라 분열이 빠른 정상세포에도 영향을 주어 위장장애, 조혈기계, 신경계 등에 부작용을 초래하고 있다. 이들 부작용 중 말초신경병증은 암 환자의 30~40%에서 발생되는[3,4] 흔한 부작용이지만 외형적으로 잘 나타나지 않고 환자의 자각증상이 주된 증상이여서 다른 부작용에 비해 의료진의 관심과 중요도에서 낮은 비중을 차지하고 있다. |
