본 연구는 혁신형 중소기업 중 IT 기업을 중심으로 기술혁신에 영향을 미치는 요인을 도출하고 각 요인이 기술혁신에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 연구모형은 중소기업과 혁신형 중소기업의 기술혁신에 영향을 미치는 요인간의 관계를 분석한 사전 연구의 결과를 기반으로 기술혁신의 영향요인으로 중요성이 입증된 요인을 추가하여 수립되었다. 연구모형은 독립변수혁신지향 문화, 연구개발 역량, 정보기술 역량, 리더십, 평가 및 보상, 매개변수는 지식경영활동, 종속변수는 기술혁신으로 구성된다. 분석 결과 주요한 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 기술혁신을 추구하는 IT 중소기업은 (1) 혁신을 지향하는 조직문화와 정보기술 역량 그리고 리더의 리더십에 주의를 기울여야 한다. (2) 사내 지식경영 활동은 필수적인 요인이다. (3) 성공적인 기술혁신을 위해서는 자체적인 기술개발에 대한 노력뿐만 아니라 다양한 국내 외 기술개발 주체들과 기술혁신 협력네트워크의 구축을 통해 연구개발 역량을 강화할 필요가 있다. (4) 평가 및 보상 제도의 디커플링 현상을 해결하는 것이 중요한 해결 과제로 보인다.
