뇌 조직에 reactive oxygen species가 축적되면 발생하는 문제점은 무엇인가? | 만성적으로 과량의 알코올의 섭취로 나타나는 인지기능 장애나 알코올성 치매는 알코올과 그 대사산물인 acetaldehyde로부터 생성된 O2—(superoxide anion), 1O2(singlet oxygen), OH․(hydroxyl radical), H2O2(hydrogen peroxide) 등의 reactive oxygen species(ROS)나 지질과산화물(malondialdehyde, MDA) 에 의한 산화적 스트레스로 인해 유발된다(Kasdallah-Grissa A 등 2006; Kim JM 등 2016). 특히 뇌 조직에서 ROS가 축적되면 뇌신경 세포를 손상 또는 사멸시켜 뇌병변을 가속화 시키는 것으로 밝혀졌다(Choi YS 등 2002). 이러한 산화적 스트레스에 대한 생체 내 방어는 superoxide dismutase(SOD), catalase, glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px), glutathione reductase 등의 효소적 체계와 비타민 A, β-carotene, 비타민 E, selenium, 비타민 C, glutathione 등의 항산화 영양소 및 polyphenol 류와 flavonoids와 같은 생리활성물질인 비효소적 체계에 의해 이루어진다(Cho BS 등 2007; Kim JM 등 2016). |
