기업 정보화와 관련된 연구는 어떠한 흐름으로 진행되고 있는가? 기업 정보화와 관련된 연구는 다음의 4가지 흐름으로 진행되고 있다고 할 수 있다. 첫째는 기업의 조직론적 접근법으로 기업의 정보화가 조직에 미치는 영향, 정보화를 추진하는 목적, 정보화의효과 등을 포함한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 두 번째는 정보화의 효과를 정보기술 측면에서 다루고 있는 연구 분야이다. 여기에는 정보화 기술 분석, 정보화 기술적 효과 분석, 정보화 효율성 증진을 위한 접근 방법 등이 포함된다. 세 번째 흐름은 기업정보화와 기업의 경영성과 간의 인과관계를 분석하는 분야이다. 경영성과와의 인과관계 검증을 위해 정보화를 통한 생산성, 실적 향상, 서비스 수준의 향상, 주식가격의 상승 여부 등을 측정한다. 네번째 흐름으로는 정보화의 산업조직론적 시각의 접근법이다. 산업조직 관점에서 정보화가 미치는 효과, 정보화로 인한 산업구조의 변화, 정보화로 인한 산업 내에서의 경쟁체제, 산업간 통폐합 등을 연구하는 흐름이다(Park, 2007).
정보화란? 정보화란 기업의 현재와 미래 활동에 있어서 어떠한 의사결정에 가치를 주는 자료인 정보를 조직 내에 제공하여 일상적인 업무처리, 경영활동 관리, 업무분석 및 의사결정을 지원하는 인간과 기계의 통합적 시스템이라고 정의된다(Ha and Jo, 2003).
