Purpose: The purpose of this study was to verify the relationships among social support, resilience and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and especially to identify factors influencing PTSD in police crime scene investigators. Methods: A cross-sectional design was used, with a convenience sample of 226 police crime scene investigators from 7 Metropolitan Police Agencies. Data were collected through self-report questionnaires during July and August, 2015. Data were analyzed using t-test, ${\chi}^2$-test, Fisher's exact test, and binary logistic regression analysis with SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. Results: The mean score for PTSD in police crime scene investigators was 13.69 .11 points. Of the crime scene investigators 181 (80.1%) were in the low-risk group and 45 (19.9%) in high-risk group. Social support (t=5.68, p<.001) and resilience (t=5.47, p<.001) were higher in the low-risk group compared to the high-risk group. Logistic regression analysis showed that resilience (OR=4.74, 95% CI: 1.57~14.35), and social support (OR=2.13, 95% CI: 1.23~3.69) are effect factors for PTSD low group. Conclusion: For effective improvement of PTSD in police crime scene investigators, intervention programs including social support and strategies to increase should be established.

본 연구의 자료 수집 기간은 2015년 7월 23일부터 2015년 8월 21일까지였으며, 자가보고식 설문지를 사용하여 수집하였다. 경찰직 공무원인 과학수사요원의 자료 수집은 서울특별시 권역별 4곳의 경찰서 과학수사팀과 6개 광역시 지방경찰청 과학수사계에 협조를 요청하고, 승인 절차에 따라 동의를 받았다.

데이터처리

1) 대상자의 외상 후 스트레스 장애 정도는 기술통계 방법을 이용하여 분석하였다.
2) 외상 후 스트레스 장애 발생 관련 요인인 일반적 특성과 직무관련 특성 및 사회적지지, 회복탄력성 간의 관련성을 파악하기 위하여 independent t-test와 x²-test, Fisher’s exact test로 단변량 분석을 실시하였다.
3) 외상 후 스트레스 장애 발생에 영향을 미치는 영향요인은 단변량 분석에서 통계적으로 유의한 변수를 투입하여 이분형 로지스틱회귀분석(binary logistic regression analysis)으로 분석하였다. 회귀모형의 적합성은 Hosmer-Lemeshow 검정을 이용하여 확인하였다.

성능/효과

본 연구는 경찰 과학수사요원의 외상 후 스트레스 정도를 확인하고 회복탄력성과 사회적지지가 외상 후 스트레스에 미치는 영향을 파악하여 외상 후 스트레스를 감소시키기 위한 중재 개발 및 기초자료를 마련하기 위해 시도되었다. 본 연구를 통해 회복탄력성과 사회적지지는 외상 후 스트레스 장애 발생 감소에 중요한 영향요인인 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구에서 규명된 영향요인들은 가장 충격적인 외상 사건에 반복적으로 노출되면서 외상 후 스트레스 장애 발생 위험성이 높은 경찰 과학수사요원들의 외상 후 스트레스 장애 예방 및자기관리 프로그램을 개발하는데 효과적으로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.
본 연구를 통해 회복탄력성과 사회적지지는 외상 후 스트레스 장애 발생 감소에 중요한 영향요인인 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구에서 규명된 영향요인들은 가장 충격적인 외상 사건에 반복적으로 노출되면서 외상 후 스트레스 장애 발생 위험성이 높은 경찰 과학수사요원들의 외상 후 스트레스 장애 예방 및자기관리 프로그램을 개발하는데 효과적으로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

후속연구

추후연구에서는 첫째, 외상 후 스트레스 진행이나 회복은 모두 시간에 따른 변화와 상호작용을 전제로 하는 개념인 만큼 기존의 횡단적 연구로는 한계가 있으므로 외상성 사건의 경험에 따른 변화정도를 추적하고 시기별로 영향을 미치는 변인을 확인하는 종단적 연구를 시도 할 필요가 있다. 둘째, 국내 연구에서 경찰 과학수사요원의 외상 후 스트레스 장애 발생 예방과 관리를 위한 프로그램을 개발하고 그 효과를 검증하는 실험연구가 부족하므로 다양한 변인의 효과검증을 위한 연구와 참여자들의 질적 변화를 파악하기 위한 질적 접근에 관한 연구가 필요하다고 본다.
