본 연구의 목적은 제 2언어와 목표 문화, 그리고 윤리 교육을 위한 학습 자료로서 영화 음악의 가능성을 파악하고 그것의 효율적인 활용도를 고찰하는 것이다. 몇몇 교수자들은 언어 교실에서 음악이나 노래가 단지 부차적인 학습 자료라고 간주하는 경향이 있다. 그러나 음악은 시대에 따라 그 나라의 언어뿐만 아니라 사상과 문화 및 다양한 관념을 반영하기 때문에 훌륭한 학습 자료가 될 수 있다. 이를 고찰하기 위해 본 연구는 디즈니의 유명한 애니메이션, 라이온 킹(The Lion King) 음악을 선정하여 이를 활용한 구체적인 학습 활동을 제시하였다. 영화 음악 중 선정된 5곡은
