IFLA에서는 2016년 초에 기존의 FR Family에 속한 개별 모형인 FRBR, FRAD, FRSAD의 통합 모형인 FRBR 도서관 참조모형을 발표하였다. 20여년에 걸쳐 발표된 FR Family 모형 간의 일관성을 확보하기 위해 모든 모형을 아우를 수 있는 상위 모형을 제시한 것이다. 이와 같은 통합 모형은 FRBR 모형의 제1집단을 중심으로 논의되어 온 국내의 FRBR 관련 논의를 확장하고, FR 개별 모형을 포괄적으로 국내 문헌에 적용할 수 있는 계기가 될 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 FRBR LRM 초안을 분석하고, 고전자료의 서지정보를 대상으로 이 모형을 시범 적용하였다. 고전자료는 하나의 저작에 풍부한 관련 저작과 표현형, 구현형을 지니고 있고, 저작 간의 관계도 다양하게 표현할 수 있어 FRBR 모형 적용에 적합하다. 또한 FRBR LRM에서 제시하고 있는 집합저작과 개별저작의 관계나 대표 표현형의 사례를 분석하는 데에도 유용하다. 이에 본 연구에서는 FRBR LRM을 기반으로 한 고전자료 조직의 방향성을 제시하기 위해 $prot{\acute{e}}g{\acute{e}}$을 사용하여 고전자료 온톨로지 모형을 설계하였다. 이를 통해 앞으로의 서지 데이터 관리 환경에서 FRBR LRM의 국내 문헌 적용 가능성을 확인하였다.
