뇌의 정보처리 과정에 대한 입장은 어떻게 나누어지나요? 뇌의 정보처리 과정을 바라보는 입장은 크게 이분된다. 하나는 특정 기능을 특정 뇌영역에서 처리한다는 기능적 분화(functional segregation)의 입장이며, 다른 하나는 분산되어 있는 뇌 영역들이 병렬적으로 정보처리를 한다는 기능적 통합(functional integration) 입장이다14). 기능적 분화의 입장에서는 뇌의 개별적인 기능 단위(뉴런이나 국소 뇌 영역)가 주 관심사인데, 그 동안 신경과학의 발전을 이끌어온 입장이라고 할 수 있다.
