  • Citrullus colocynthis plants were used in the present investigation and seeds were collected from river valleys of Koonoor Warangal, Andhra Pradesh, Basara Nizamabad Telangana State and Bharathidasan University, Thiruchunapally, Tamilnadu, India. The collected plants were maintained in the department green house at Kakatiya University. Leaf, cotyledon, stem and node explants were collected from the green house grown plants and washed thoroughly in running tap water for 5 to 10 min under aseptic conditions.
