본 연구는 간호대학생들의 교육과정이 비판적 사고성향과 문제해결능력에 영향을 미쳤는지를 조사한 종적연구로 1개 4년제 간호학과에 입학한 학생 94명 중 4년간 지속적으로 본 연구에 참여한 51명의 자료가 최종 분석 대상이 되었다. 자료는 SPSS 16.0 프로그램을 이용하여 repeated measure ANOVA와 paired t-test로 분석하였다. 간호대학생들의 비판적 사고성향은 학년이 올라갈수록 유의하게 향상하는 변화를 보였으나 하위요인 중에서는 지적 열정/호기심, 체계성, 객관성의 3항목만 유의하게 향상하였다. 문제해결능력은 향상하는 추세만 보이고 유의한 변화는 없었으며, 세부항목에서 유의하게 향상한 문제해결능력은 개인의 통제력이었다. 그러므로 비판적 사고성향 중 신중성, 자신감, 지적 공정성 및 건전한 회의성을 향상시키고, 문제해결능력 중 문제해결 자신감과 접근-회피 양식을 더욱 증진시킬 수 있도록 교수법 및 교육과정의 개선이 필요하다고 하겠다.

The purpose of this study is to investigate whether the undergraduate nursing students have developed their critical thinking disposition, and problem solving ability after they have completed the course. Data were analyzed using repeated measure ANOVA and paired t-test test with SPSS Statistics version 16.0. The study has shown that the students have developed their critical thinking disposition, especially in sub items as prudence, self-confidence, intellectual fairness, healthy skepticism after completing the undergraduate course, but they have failed to mature their problem solving ability except personal control ability. Therefore, it is critical to continuously apply the various teaching methods that will successfully help students enhance their critical thinking disposition and problem solving ability through the whole nursing curriculum.

문제 정의

본 연구는 간호대학생의 비판적 성향과 문제해결능력을 4년간 비교하는 종적연구이다.

1) 학년별 비판적 사고성향을 비교한다.
2) 학년별 문제해결능력을 비교한다.

대상 데이터

본 연구는 J시 4년제 간호학과에 입학한 학생 94명을 대상으로 하여 4년간 지속적으로 본 연구에 참여한 학생 중 불충분한 응답을 하거나 동일한 교과목을 수강하지 않은 학생을 제외한 51명의 자료가 최종 분석 대상이었다. 본 연구는 S대학교 연구윤리위원회 심의를 거친 후 실시되었다.

데이터처리

자료분석은 SPSS 16.0 프로그램을 이용하여 비판적 사고성향과 문제해결능력의 4년간 변화를 repeated measure ANOVA로 분석하였고, 학년 간 비교는 paired t-test로 하였다.

이론/모형

문제해결능력은 Heppner와 Peterson[20]이 개발한 문제해결척도를 Jeon[21]이 번역한 총 35문항의 도구로 측정하였는데, 이 중 3문항은 여과문항이며, 각 문항은 ‘매우 동의하지 않는다’에서 ‘매우 동의한다’까지 6점 Likert 척도이고 점수가 높을수록 문제해결능력이 높음을 의미한다.
비판적 사고성향은 Yoon[19]이 개발한 총 27문항으로 측정하였는데, 각 문항은 ‘전혀 그렇지 않다’에서 ‘매우 그렇다’까지 5점 Likert 척도이고, 점수가 높을수록 비판적 사고성향이 높음을 의미한다.

성능/효과

간호학과 학생들의 비판적 사고성향은 중간 정도의 수준이었으며 4년의 교육과정을 마친 후 비판적 사고성향은 1학년에서 보다 학년이 올라갈수록 유의하게 향상되었다. 문제해결능력은 중 정도의 수준이었고 학년이 올라갈수록 향상되는 추세는 보였지만 유의한 변화를 나타내지 않았다.
문제해결능력의 평균평점은 최소 1점에서 최대 6점 범위에, 3개 하위요소에서 4개 학년에서 모두 가장 높은 점수을 나타낸 요소는 문제해결 자신감이었고, 가장 낮은 점수를 보인 요소는 개인의 통제력이었다.
비판적 사고성향은 평균평점은 최소 1점에서 최대 5점 범위에, 7개 하위요소 중 4개 학년 모두에서 가장 높은 점수를 보인 요소는 객관성이었고, 가장 낮은 점수를 보인 요소는 체계성이었다.
총 평균평점은 1학년 3.44±0.31, 2학년 3.52±0.27, 3학년 3.58±0.27, 4학년 3.59±0.28로 학년이 올라갈수록 점수가 유의하게 향상하는 추세를 보였다(F=13.2, p =.001).
