외상 후 성장이란? | 의미있는 사람과의 이별이나 사망, 중대한 수술 혹은 질병 진단, 다양한 형태의 폭력, 자살 등의 외상사건은 고통과 부정적 심리상태를 유발하기도 한다. 그러나 이러한 외상사건들로 인해 자신에 대한 지각의 변화와 긍정적 대인관계, 감사와 삶에 대한 긍정적 인식이 증가함을 경험하기도 하는데, 이를 외상 후 성장이라고 한다[10]. 유방암을 진단받은 여성에 관한 질적 연구에서 유방암 환자들은 유방암 진단과 치료과정 중에서 심각한 외상을 경험함에도 불구하고 완치나 치료 종결 후의 삶을 제2인생에 대한 기회라고 생각하여 자신의 인생을 좀 더 객관적으로 바라보고 여유로운 시선을 갖기도 하고, 이런 변화가 자신의 삶에 대한 긍정적인 변화도 동시에 일으킨다고 하였다[11]. |
