본 연구의 목적은 본 연구의 목적은 우리나라의 디지털 성범죄 피해 회복 및 지원 제도의 문제점을 미국, 영국, 호주의 사례를 통해 분석하는데 있으며 디지털 성범죄에 대한 해외 선진 국가들의 입법, 제도 현황을 살펴보고 문제해결의 시사점을 제시한 점에 의의를 둔다. 연구방법은 문헌연구의 방식을 취했으며 판례 및 언론자료 비교 분석, 전문가 자문회의, 연구포럼, 해외 논문과 법과 정책에 관한 자료들을 참고하였다. 본 연구결과는 디지털 성착취 사건을 피해자의 관점에서 살펴보고 피해자 보호 및 지원에 대한 문제점을 해외 사례와 비교한 뒤 대응방안을 모색해야 한다. 디지털 성범죄의 특성상 무제한으로 확대 유포 될수 있다는 점에서 오프라인 상의 성폭력 피해자외의 본질적인 차이를 인지하고 각각의 사례를 전문적으로 분류해 필요에 맞는 피해자 지원 정책 및 가해자에 대한 처벌 및 제재가 이루어 질 필요성과 궁극적으로는 디지털 성폭력을 예방할수 있는 차원까지 되어야 한다는 결론을 제시 하였는데에 의의가 있다.
