Purpose : This study aims to understand the effects of job-seeking stress on depression and self-esteem in college students majoring in health science. Methods : In this study, in order to measure college students' employment stress, depression, self-esteem, and social support, a measurement tool was used by modifying and supplementing the questionnaire to suit the purpose and method of this study. The subjects, 210 students (46 men and 164 women) enrolled in colleges located in Busan, had their scores on the Beck depression inventory (BDI), job-seeking stress scale, and self-esteem scale measured. Results : There was a positive correlation between all sub-variables of employment stress, and a negative correlation between employment stress and self-esteem. Additionally, a positive correlation was found between employment stress and depression, and a negative correlation was found between self-esteem and depression. The result taken from the job-stress scale showed that women experienced an overall higher level of stress than men while seeking jobs. Furthermore, in terms of the BDI, men exhibited a higher level of depression than women when subjected to job-seeking stress. Finally, the results from the self-esteem scale reveal that men exhibited less self-esteem than women. Conclusion : A comprehensive review of the study's findings suggested that women had greater job-seeking stress than men. Additionally, it found that, for men, job-seeking stress had a greater impact on depression levels and self-esteem. These results suggest that a higher level of job-seeking stress may lead to higher levels of depression and lower levels of self-esteem. It will be useful to conduct follow-up research by operating self-esteem and depression programs.

제안 방법

본 연구에서는 2020년 10월 28일부터 11월 25일까지 약 4주간 부산에 소재한 K대학교에 재학 중인 대학생을 대상으로 본 연구 목적 및 방법에 대해 충분히 설명하고 참여하기를 동의한 대학생을 대상으로 설문 조사와 온라인을 통해 자기 기입 방식으로 설문 조사를 실시하였다. 설문지는 총 250부가 배부되었으며, 이 중 불성실하게 응답하여 적절하지 않다고 판단된 설문지 40부를 제외한 210부(남 46명, 여 164명)를 본 연구에 사용하였다.
본 연구에서는 대학생의 취업 스트레스, 우울, 자아존중감, 사회적 지지를 측정하기 위해 본 연구 목적과 방식에 맞게 설문 내용을 수정 보완하여 다음과 같이 측정도구를 사용하였다.

데이터처리

둘째, 표본의 취업 스트레스를 알아보기 위하여 독립 t검정을 실시 하였다.
본 연구에서는 설문지의 데이터 코딩을 거쳐 SPSS ver 25.0을 사용하여 분석을 실시하였으며, 통계적 자료처리를 위하여 유의 수준은 .05로 설정하였다. 자료 분석 방법은 다음과 같다.
셋째, 표본의 성별 간의 차이를 알아보기 위하여 독립 t검정을 실시 하였다.
첫째, 측정 변수 간의 관계를 분석하기 위하여 Pearson의 상관분석을 실시하였다.

이론/모형

대학생의 우울 정도를 알아보기 위해 Lee와 Song(1991)이 번안한 Beck 등(1961)의 자기보고 형 검사 ‘Beck 우울 척도’를 사용 하였다
대학생의 취업 스트레스 정도를 알아보기 위해 코넬대학의 ‘스트레스측정법(Cornell medical index; CMI)’을 토대로 Hwang(1998)이 개발한 ‘취업 스트레스 측정 도구’를 요인 분석하여 Kim(2007)이 만든 ‘취업 스트레스 척도’를 사용하였다
자아존중감 즉, ‘본인 스스로의 평가’를 알아보기 위해 Rosenberg(1985)가 개발한 ‘자아존중감 척도(self-esteem scale; SES)’를 Jon(1974)이 번역, Choi(2009)가 수정 및 보완한 척도를 사용하였다

성능/효과

Beck 우울 척도를 시행한 결과, 취업스트레스와 우울간에는 양의 상관관계으로 성격 스트레스가 높을수록 우울도 높은 결과로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 성격 스트레스가 높을 수록 우울 정서가 증가한다고 하였던 선행연구(Seong 등, 2017)와 일치한다.
총 10문항으로 Likert 5점 척도이며 부정문항 4개, 긍정 문항 6개로 구성되어있다. 그 중 부정 문항(2, 5, 6, 9)은 역 코딩하여 분석하였으며, 자아존중감의 점수는 합산 후 평균값이 높을수록 자아존중감이 높음을 의미한다.
그리고 취업 스트레스와 우울 간에는 양의 상관관계를 보였으며, 자아존중감과 우울 간에는 음의 상관관계가 나타났다(p<.05)(Table 2).
넷째, 자아존중감 척도를 실시하였을 때 남학생과 여학생 비교에서 유의한 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다.
둘째, 취업 스트레스 척도를 실시하였을 때 여학생과 남학생 비교에서 유의한 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다.
본 연구 결과를 통해 취업 스트레스가 높을수록 우울감은 높아지고 자아존중감은 상관관계가 없음을 알 수 있었다. 코로나 19로 인해 전반적인 취업 스트레스가 증가 될 것으로 사료 된다.
본 연구 결과에서, 성별에 따른 취업 스트레스에서 유의한 차이를 보이진 않았으며. 하위요인에서도 유의한 차이가 없었다.
본 연구의 상관관계의 결과 취업 스트레스가 높을수록 우울은 증가하는 것으로 나타났으며, 자아존중감은 상관관계가 없었다. 따라서 대학생의 취업 스트레스를 감소시키기 위해서 우울을 감소시켜야 하며, 대학에서는 구체적인 프로그램 개발과 운영이 필요하며, 보건계열학생을 위한 취업 스트레스에 대한 연구가 필요하다.
성별에 따른 우울에 대한 차이를 분석한 결과 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 없었다(p<.05)(Table 5).
성별에 따른 자아존중감에 대한 차이를 분석한 결과 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 없었다(p<.05)(Table 4).
성별에 따른 취업스트레스에 대한 차이를 분석한 결과 우울에서 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 없었다(p<.05)(Table 3).
셋째, Beck 우울척도를 실시하였을 때 남학생과 여학생 비교에서 유의한 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다.
Shin과 Cho(2013)는 대상자의 구직기술, 자아존중감, 자기효능감을 검토한 결과, 취업 스트레스에 가장 큰 영향력을 미치는 변인으로 자아존중감을 꼽았다. 자기 자신에 대해 만족하는 정도, 자기 스스로를 가치 있는 사람으로 생각하는 정도, 자신이 쓸모있는 존재라고 생각하는 수준이 높을수록 취업 스트레스를 덜 경험하는 것이다. 하지만 낮은 자아존중감과 사회적 지지, 주관적 경제 수준과 건강 수준 등의 요인은 대학생들의 우울을 더욱 악화시키는 것으로 나타났고(Kim, 2014), 이에 따라 대학생들은 취업 스트레스에 의해 우울과 자아존중감에 영향일 수 있을 것이라고 생각된다.
자아존중감 척도 결과, 남학생과 여학생의 자아존중감에서 유의한 차이가 없었으며, 상관관계 분석에서는 취업 스트레스와 자아존중감 비교에서 상관관계가 없었다.
그리고 취업 스트레스가 높을수록 우울, 불안 등과 같은 부정적 정서가 증가한다고 했던 선행연구(Kim, 2004; Lee, 2004; Seo & Lee, 2015; Um, 2015) 결과와 관계가 있었다. 즉, 선행연구와 마찬가지로 본 연구에서도 결과적으로 스트레스가 높을수록 우울도 높아진다는 상관관계가 있음을 입증하고 있다.
첫째, 취업 스트레스와 우울과의 상관관계에서 양의 상관관계으로 취업스트레스와 우울 간에는 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다.
취업 스트레스의 하위변수 간에는 모두 양의 상관관계를 이고, 취업 스트레스와 자아존중감 간에는 모두 음의 상관관계를 보였다. 그리고 취업 스트레스와 우울 간에는 양의 상관관계를 보였으며, 자아존중감과 우울 간에는 음의 상관관계가 나타났다(p<.

후속연구

본 연구의 상관관계의 결과 취업 스트레스가 높을수록 우울은 증가하는 것으로 나타났으며, 자아존중감은 상관관계가 없었다. 따라서 대학생의 취업 스트레스를 감소시키기 위해서 우울을 감소시켜야 하며, 대학에서는 구체적인 프로그램 개발과 운영이 필요하며, 보건계열학생을 위한 취업 스트레스에 대한 연구가 필요하다.
코로나 19로 인해 전반적인 취업 스트레스가 증가 될 것으로 사료 된다. 따라서 대학에서는 취업캠프와 취업 관련 프로그램을 다방면으로 개발하여 학생들의 상황에 맞는 맞춤형 취업과 종합적이고 지속적인 취업교육과 상담 등이 절실히 요구되며 취업 스트레스와 관련한 문제점 분석을 통해 다양한 프로그램 운영이 이뤄지길 희망한다.
