The flavonoids make up a significant group of naturally occurring compounds commonplace in all vascular plants. Numerous potentially health-promoting effects have been accredited to the flavonoids on the basis of in vitro and experimental animal investigations. Flavonoids are found to affect the secrotory, motile, and mitogenic responses of cells such as inflammatory and immune cells. The flavonoids have also been implicated to have anticancer and anticarcinogenic activities. This article reviews the various studies and results with regard to the healthful indications of flavonoids.
