Media is slipping into children"s fantasies and the question arises, if prefabricated pictures overlay, obstruct or even replace original children"s fantasies. In so far we chose in this study a multi-method approach for the investigation about the influence of mass media, and the perceptional psychology relate to mass media. We provided room for children to imagine and articulate various possibilities. We let children explain their fantasies and only then started looking for media significance. The study was conducted in four different countries, in Korea, Israel, Germany and USA. In this wide range of children"s fantasies we were focusing on "Big Daydreams" as paraphrase for something children imagined more often, mostly during the day, but sometimes also in the night. Children imagined their "Big Daydream" the land of their dreams or whatever they wanted to experience. Subsequently they drew it, wrote some sentences, explained their fantasies and stated if there were media connections in individual interviews. The investigation is focusing on the age group of 8-to 9-year-olds (some have just turned ten). This age group can easily be counted for childhood, in which cognitive preconditions are given for a distinction between reality and fiction, and also have required abilities in drawing an writing. In total 193 children participated in this study. The investigation takes girls and boys into account and also typical characteristics of the respective country, if possible. We compiles quotations of the interviews about the stories to give easier access into the often complex fantasies of children. In the following we put together pictures and stories of the children from our four countries, giving an overview of the beautiful, exciting and sometimes surprising fantasy worlds of children.
