This study investigated the inevitable alternation to other regions when kinesio taping is applied to cervical and foot regions. Twenty normal adults participated as subjects and the effects of kinesio taping applied to cervical and ankle regions on balance index were investigated. Balance System SD was used to measure overall balance index (OBI), anterioposterior balance index (ABI) and mediolateral balance index (MBI) for pre-kinesio taping, post-taping cervical region, and post-taping ankle region in regards to dynamic balance, open-eye static balance, and closed-eye static balance. There was no significant reduction in dynamic balance regarding OBI, ABI, and MBI for the post-Kinesio taping : ankle and cervical region(p>.05). There was no significant reduction in open-eye static balance regarding OBI, ABI, and MBI for post- Kinesio taping : ankle and cervical region(p>.05). There was a statistically slight reduction (p>.05) in OBI, ABI, and MBI for post-taping ankle region in regards to closed-eye static balance. There was a statistically significant reduction (p<.05) in OBI and ABI for post-taping cervical region. From the results above, it is posited that dynamic balance, open-eye static balance, and closed-eye static balance are affected according to regions applied with kinesio taping. Therefore, there is a need for further research to expand the research subjects and explore the effects of systematic and objective taping for further consideration regarding the applied regions.
